POSITION OVERVIEW


Reporting to the Proposal Manager, the Technical Writer plays a pivotal role in creating and maintaining clear, concise, and detailed documentation for our internal systems and applications. The Technical Writer will ensure proper communication of technical information across multiple platforms while supporting our teams in developing robust solutions that adhere to all industry standards.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Collaborate closely with the bid and project team to document technical concepts for large federal contracts, focusing on software development, modernization, project management, cloud hosting, cybersecurity, and data analytics.
  • Develop and maintain user documentation, including how-to guides, process documents, procedures, sales collaterals, references, manuals, and instruction sheets, ensuring they are accessible and user-friendly.
  • Translate technical concepts into simple language for a diverse audience, making complex information approachable and understandable.
  • Convert functional requirements into detailed technical specifications through active engagement with internal team members.
  • Act as the primary liaison for documentation support in system components and engineering, coordinating contracts with government entities.
  • Manage the lifecycle of technical documents, including preparation, review, revision, and maintenance, covering software and systems engineering, operations, testing, and user documentation.
  • Ensure consistency and quality in documentation by adhering to a style guide and conducting thorough editing and proofreading.
  • Design and enforce templates and standards for technical documentation to maintain uniformity and clarity.
  • Research, write, edit, and proofread technical documents, collaborating with subject matter experts (SMEs) to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Organize and present information in a structured format easily understood by technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Review and audit existing documentation regularly to enhance quality and relevance.
  • Tailor documentation style and tone to the intended audience and purpose, adapting to meet diverse needs.
QUALIFICATIONS


  • Bachelor's Degree plus 3+ years of experience in a similar role.
  • Understanding of proposal responses or experience working as a proposal writer responding to Federal Government solicitations with a facility with technical concepts.
  • Ability to distill complex information into clear and concise text.
  • Ideal candidates bring excellent writing and grammar skills and can work independently.
  • Proven experience designing and delivering developer-oriented documentation and working directly with development teams to understand complex processes.
  • Exceptional ability to communicate complex ideas clearly and persuasively to stakeholders at all levels.
