The Inamori School of Engineering at Alfred University invites applications for three open rank tenure/tenure-track faculty appointments in Ceramic Engineering.
Salary:$85,000-$100,000 Annually

About Alfred University:
Alfred university founded in1836, with inclusion from the start! One of the first coeducational institutions in the United States. Type of institution: Private, non-sectarian, with state-sponsored programs in engineering and art and design. Location: Alfred, New York, a village in the foothills of the Allegheny Mountains about an hour west of Coming, an hour and a half south of Rochester and two hours from Buffalo. Students: About 1,500 undergraduates and nearly 150 graduate students from 43 states and 16 countries attend full-time on the Alfred campus. We have approximately 90 additional part-time graduate students on the Alfred, NY campus, and 475 graduate students enrolled in our AUNY NYC-metro area programs. Campus: 232 acre campus with more than 50 academic and residential buildings. Residential, student-centered, vibrant living/learning community. Plus another 400 acres of nearby recreational land. The School of Engineering is home to the New York State College of Ceramics - a unique public private partnership with SUNY. The School offers undergraduate and graduate degrees in Materials Science and Engineering, Ceramic Engineering, Glass Engineering Science, Biomaterials, Mechanical, Electrical, and Renewable Energy Engineering.
Salary:$85,000-$100,000 Annually
Requirements:
- The candidates must hold a PhD in Material Science and Engineering, Ceramic Engineering, Glass Science, Mechanical Engineering or closely related field
- The successful candidates will be expected to develop a strong externally funded research program and a high-quality teaching portfolio
- All candidates with expertise in the field of ceramic engineering are encouraged to apply
- Preferred areas of expertise include:
- Traditional ceramic processing
- Ultra-high-temperature and/or hypersonics material processing and characterization
- Transmission electron microscopy (TEM+FIB)
- Electroceramics and semiconductor fabrication
- Candidates with strong expertise in material science education combined with interest in a teaching portfolio will also be considered
