Ascension Global Staffing & Executive Search is seeking a dynamic and experienced Learning & Development (L&D) Specialist to join our client's law firm.

The L&D Specialist will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing training and development programs aimed at enhancing the skills and knowledge of our attorneys, paralegals, and staff. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of legal environments and the unique learning needs of legal professionals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver training programs on legal and professional skills, including legal writing, research, ethics, compliance, and practice management.
  • Collaborate with firm leadership to assess learning needs and design customized development programs.
  • Coordinate and facilitate onboarding programs for new hires, ensuring a smooth integration into the firm.
  • Create learning materials such as presentations, handbooks, e-learning modules, and guides.
  • Identify and implement learning technologies and platforms to improve the firm’s training infrastructure.
  • Track and evaluate the effectiveness of training programs, using feedback to enhance future learning initiatives.
  • Manage continuing legal education (CLE) programs, ensuring compliance with state and bar requirements.
  • Organize internal workshops, seminars, and external training events.
  • Act as a resource for attorneys and staff seeking career development opportunities, providing guidance on professional growth within the firm.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and best practices in learning and development, particularly in the legal field.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Education, Organizational Development, or a related field. A JD or legal background is a plus.
  • 3+ years of experience in learning and development, preferably within a law firm or legal environment.
  • Familiarity with legal industry training requirements, including CLE.
  • Strong knowledge of adult learning principles and instructional design methodologies.
  • Proficiency with learning management systems (LMS) and e-learning development tools.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and facilitation skills.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with attorneys, partners, and firm leadership.
  • High attention to detail and ability to manage sensitive information confidentially.
