ALTA IT is looking for a strong Data Analyst for a long-term project in Sterling VA.

In search of a SQL Data Analyst with strong SQL report writing skills (SSRS and other tools). This role will primarily involve developing and maintaining SQL queries and reports essential for business operations and decision-making processes, especially during peak periods of tax-related activities.

Core Responsibilities:

  1. Query Optimization: Write and optimize complex SQL queries to efficiently retrieve, manipulate, and aggregate data from databases. Ensure optimal query performance by understanding execution plans, indexing strategies, and database statistics.
  1. Report Development: Collaborate with stakeholders including business analysts, data scientists, and end-users to understand reporting requirements. Design and develop SQL-based reports using tools like SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS), Power BI, or similar platforms.
  1. Data Extraction and Transformation: Extract data from multiple databases or sources and transform it as necessary for reporting purposes. Perform data joins, apply business rules, and aggregate data to meet specific reporting needs.
  1. Data Validation and Accuracy: Ensure the accuracy and reliability of data used in reports through thorough testing and validation procedures. Verify data integrity across different sources and ensure consistency in reporting outputs.
  1. Report Deployment and Maintenance: Deploy SQL-based reports to reporting servers (e.g., SSRS), ensuring proper configuration and accessibility for end-users. Monitor and maintain existing reports to accommodate changing business requirements and data sources.
  1. Performance Monitoring: Monitor the performance of SQL queries used in reports. Identify opportunities for optimization, analyze query execution times, and monitor database server performance metrics.

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field.
  2. Proven experience as a SQL Data Analyst with a focus on report writing.
  3. Strong proficiency in SQL programming and database management systems (e.g., SQL Server, MySQL).
  4. Experience with SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) or similar reporting tools. Familiarity with data visualization tools such as Power BI.
  5. Knowledge of database optimization techniques and performance tuning.
  6. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
  7. Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and communicate effectively with stakeholders.
  8. Certification in SQL Server or relevant technologies (optional but preferred).
