Performance and Failover Test Engineer
Location: Chicago, IL

Job Overview:
We are seeking a Performance and Failover Test Engineer who will play a critical role in performance and failover testing. This includes planning, designing, and executing tests while identifying performance bottlenecks and collaborating with development teams. The role requires expertise in failover strategies, disaster recovery, and high availability solutions.

Primary Responsibilities:
Test Design & Execution: Analyze business requirements, work with business analysts/SMEs, and design test scenarios.
Collaboration: Work closely with development, QA, and operations teams to understand application architecture and performance needs.
Performance Testing: Develop and run performance test scripts using tools like JMeter and LoadRunner.
Failover Testing: Conduct failover tests simulating hardware, software, and network failures.
Bottleneck Identification: Diagnose performance bottlenecks and provide actionable solutions.
Monitoring & Documentation: Monitor system behavior, compare results against SLAs, and document findings.
Process Improvement: Identify automation opportunities and contribute to process innovation.
Compliance: Ensure that failover testing adheres to enterprise quality standards.

Required Qualifications:

Experience:
2-3 years of performance/failover testing experience.
Experience with cloud and on-premise environments.
Familiarity with tools like JMeter, Selenium, SpiraTest, and LoadRunner.
Knowledge of AWS or Azure for performance/failover tests.
Experience with CI/CD pipelines for automated performance tests.
Familiarity with container technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
Experience with application monitoring and building dashboards.
Understanding capacity planning and performance tuning.

Skills:
Understanding of Agile and/or Waterfall methodologies.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Ability to multitask and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Education:
Bachelor's/Master s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

Desired Skills:
Familiarity with high availability (HA) and disaster recovery (DR) concepts.
Knowledge of SaaS systems and observability principles.
Experience working with Atlassian tools like Jira and Confluence.
