Actalent is in search of a chemist to join a world renowned environmental firm to support projects that are critical to Hawaii's infrastructure.

Responsibilities:

  • Technical Problem Solving
    • Utilize basic scientific principles, theories, practices, and existing technologies to develop solutions for technical problems with limited scope.
  • Data Management
    • Collect and enter data; apply technical principles and theories.
    • Interpret and record data; conduct analyses and compare findings to relevant studies and regulations to ensure compliance.
    • Perform data review and validation for multi-media data.
    • Ensure project- and QAPP-specific data requirements are met.
    • Work with data management to manage data flow from the laboratory to final reporting.
  • Field Support
    • Support field efforts by preparing sampling plans and field documentation.
  • Research and Auditing
    • Research environmental laboratory practices and methodologies.
    • Conduct field and laboratory technical system audits.
  • Reporting and Coordination
    • Prepare technical reports, papers, and QAPPs.
    • Coordinate with end users to define data quality requirements and ensure data is scientifically sound and usable for end-use objectives.
  • Laboratory Management
    • Prepare proposals, procure laboratory services, and approve invoices.
  • Collaboration
    • Work under the supervision of a project manager or senior-level team member.
Minimum Requirements:

  • BA/BS in Chemistry or a related field with relevant experience, or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Working knowledge of instrumentation used for environmental analysis (e.g., GC/MS, ICP, GC-ECD, IC).
  • Proficient in standard office applications (Microsoft Word, Excel, Access).
  • Bachelors in Chemistry, Biology, or Biochemistry or a related field.
  • Experience in laboratory or environmental chemistry is a plus.
  • Ability to travel and work outdoors as needed.
