General Summary

Our association management team members are the people powering progress for organizations that are in the business of bringing people together to learn, connect, and accomplish more. This executive director will support and lead up to two associations.

The Executive Director serves as the chief staff officer and is responsible to the board of directors for overall administration and operation of the organizations. The Executive Director advises and assists the boards in the formulation and implementation of strategies, objectives, and policies in support of advancing the organization’s mission. You will lead a designated staff team with the assistance of cross-functional centers of excellence to achieve the client’s organizational goals. In this role, you will provide direction, project prioritization, and serve as the primary liaison with the client Board of Directors.

This position reports to a Vice President of the Etherio Association Management division and is accountable to achievement of client objectives.

Essential Functions

  • Manage the overall operations of the association including governance, tax filings, legal requirements, budget oversight, strategic planning, and development and execution of their business plans.
  • Effectively manage staff resources to remain within contracted scope of services.
  • Manages and/or mentor staff assigned to that client(s) which includes providing feedback, reviewing performance, directing work, delegating, and motivating.
  • Report on key metrics including financial performance, membership, sponsorship, and engagement.
  • Schedule, prepare for and support Executive and Board meetings.
  • Assure the organization and its mission, programs, products, and services are consistently presented with a strong, positive image to relevant stakeholders and the public.
  • Oversee the design, branding, marketing, promotion, delivery and quality of programs, products, and services.
  • Oversee membership marketing, services, and benefits to enhance member and partner experiences.
  • Assist with developing and executing program, product, and service strategies for the organization.
  • Develop and execute sponsorship sales to achieve budgeted revenue targets.
  • Monitors changing conditions related to the profession to enable the organizations to provide leadership in developing and communicating programs and resources.
  • Maintains strategic partnerships and represents the organizations at national events and conferences.
  • Coordinate volunteers and the management team to manage all aspects of the organization’s annual conference, webinars, web-based and e-learning initiatives, and other events.
  • In partnership with the management team, work with and support all committee chairs to set and achieve goals.
  • Support association volunteers in their various roles and coordinate succession planning at all levels.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum And Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Advanced degree and/or Certified Association Executive (CAE) highly preferred.
  • 5+ years of non-profit association management experience.
  • Strong strategic planning skills, including program development and project leadership experience.
  • Ability to demonstrate a sincere and inherent curiosity about each association’s mission.
  • Strategic thinker, receptive to new ideas and opportunities, with the ability to drive results.
  • Hands-on budget management skills, including budget preparation, analysis, decision-making, and reporting.
  • Marketing experience with keeping and attracting new members in non-profit organizations.
  • Strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills, including proficiency in presentations, and networking.
  • Experience in Microsoft applications.
  • Experience with association management software preferred.

WORKPLACE LOCATION REQUIREMENTS

Denver, CO. We operate as a Hybrid work environment, working as a combination of remote and in-office presence, as well as the possibility of being onsite at client and/or event locations.

Ability to travel at most 25%

Requires flexibility in scheduling, such as the ability to work evenings and weekends to meet client, event, or company needs.

  • Need to adapt and function in various physical settings (for example, conference centers, indoor and outdoor spaces).
  • Occasionally required to position self in a stooping, kneeling, or crouching manner.
  • Frequently required to use hands or fingers, handle or feel objects, tools, machinery, and computers.
  • Frequently communicates with others and must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
  • Frequently operates a computer and other electronic equipment.
  • The noise level in the office work environment is usually low to moderate, while event environments may be moderate to noisy.
