Job Description
Job Description The successful applicant will join a broad-based team of scientists involved in the assimilation of space-based remotely sensed data from hyper-spectral infrared spectrometers, microwave radiometers and/or radio occultation from the GNSS-RO constellation.
Ideally, the candidate will have expertise in handling large volume data sets, knowledge of variational data assimilation systems, radiative transfer, fast radiative transfer models, and statistical analysis.
Experience in at least one or more of the following computer languages and/or analysis tools: FORTRAN, C/C++, Python, UNIX shell scripting, Matlab, IDL, GrADS, RTTOV, CRTM, and ROPP is required.
Candidates should possess a M.S. or Ph.D., or equivalent experience in Atmospheric Science (Meteorology), Applied Mathematics, Electrical Engineering, Oceanography, Computer Science, Statistics or related disciplines.
The position may be filled as a PostDoc, visiting scientist, support contractor, or permanent federal employee.
