The Senior Business Relationship Manager will provide leadership on the delivery of technology services and ensures that the agreed level of technology service provisioned is attained. This position provides oversight of all service level agreements, operational level agreements and underpinning contracts, which includes the authoring of documents, monitoring performance and improving service levels where needed. Ensures strategic alignment of technology support to meet the needs of high-profile customers.

OARnet maintains and delivers services across the state's 5,500-mile fiber-optic network backbone to support the connectivity relied upon every day by Ohio's higher education, K-12 education, state and local government, public broadcasting, health care and research communities.

The Senior Business Relationship Manager will act as liaison between customers and engineering staff in assessing key technology requirements. The position will provide consulting, information and guidance on technology services.

Other major responsibilities include:
  • Supervising team of business relationship managers and specialists.
  • Engaging cross-functional technology teams, including engineering, network operation center and outreach.
  • Leveraging resources to meet customer requirements.
  • Identifying and developing new customer opportunities.
  • Cultivating and advancing long-term relationships with customers through all phases of the project life cycle.
  • Supporting the client's long-term objectives.
  • Assisting the Chief Relationship Officer in developing and managing new product and service offerings for OARnet members. Such offerings may include, but are not limited to, Ohio Private Cloud, security services, Internet 2 and Eduroam, among others. Will assist in the management of associated vendor relationships, as well as life cycle administration.
  • Working with communications teams to develop highly effective marketing and presentation materials.
  • Participating in and speaking at OH-TECH events to promote the OARnet value proposition.
  • Striving to improve customer satisfaction with a goal of 98% positive satisfaction levels derived from customer surveys.

Required Education/Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, business administration or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 5 years of experience in technology sales, engineering, marketing or business process consulting in higher education, government or healthcare.
  • Technical knowledge of voice and data networks infrastructure, wireless environments, internet services enterprise level applications and telecommunications industry trends.
  • Experience managing complex technology projects.
  • Outstanding negotiation and communication skills.
  • Valid driver's license.


Desired Education/Experience:
  • Experience leading a team or serving as a subject matter expert.
  • Experience with applications in support of enterprise voice, data and networking and wireless services, customer relationship management solutions and other enterprise applications/services desired.
