Responsibilities:

  • Lead and mentor the fabrication team and be a resource for other team members in need of leadership or guidance.
  • Represent the fabrication team for all fabrication-related matters within the company.
  • Identify and implement training programs to enhance the skills, techniques, and efficiency of the team.
  • Foster a healthy, collaborative environment for team members while exemplifying that culture.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with vendors and contractors that will provide the department with complementing outlets when needed for project efficiency.
  • Continuously grow and cultivate vendor and contractor connections to maintain a healthy rolodex of options.
  • Maintain directory or database of vendor and contractor contact lists with details of rates and purpose for use.
  • Negotiate contracts and rates to ensure the best possible terms for the organization.
  • Monitor vendor and contractor performance to ensure production is up to the organization’s standards and address any issues promptly.
  • Develop and oversee project plans, considering objectives and overall event or project strategy.
  • Come up with and propose creative event ideas that align with the company’s vision.
  • Provide creative solutions to project approaches and test methods for creations.
  • Participate in meetings for project understandings and lead department meetings to provide team unity and transparency.
  • Assign tasks considering resource skillsets and the time available to achieve the deadline.
  • Forecast and understand all upcoming tasks and overcome potential challenges.
  • Determine proper tools and creative elements required for the team to accomplish projects with the most efficient techniques and approaches.
  • Introduce creative solutions to the team that continuously pushes the limits of the department.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and propose innovative ideas into conceptual planning and execution.
  • Oversee the storage and proper labeling of all files in a managed file system, including color codes for paint relative to projects, CNC or machine files, sketches or renderings, etc.
  • Maintain detailed records of notes and details for reference on projects by uploading discoveries and step-by-steps to the company’s project management platform.

Qualifications:

  • Proven track record in a managerial or supervisory role within a fabrication or production environment.
  • Strong understanding of fabrication techniques, processes, and equipment.
  • Excellent leadership and team management abilities.
  • Experience in training and developing staff.
  • Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience in managing projects, including planning, execution, and evaluation.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to develop and manage budgets.
  • Experience in resource allocation and cost management.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, technologies, and best practices.
  • Ability to adapt to changes and advancements in the fabrication industry.
  • At least 5 years of experience in Fabrication, preferably in event production or a related industry.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing up to 50 pounds without assistance.
  • Ability to work in various environmental conditions, including standing for extended periods, walking, bending, and crouching.
  • Comfortable working with power tools and machinery, with the necessary safety protocols.
  • Capable of working in environments that may include loud noises, dust, and varying temperatures.
  • Visual acuity to read blueprints, schematics, and detailed work instructions.
  • Manual dexterity and coordination to operate equipment safely and effectively.
