Job Summary

Develops and maintains computer-based information systems (e.g. Laboratory Information Management System) or portions of systems for assigned systems solutions. Candidate performs basic system analysis and design following supported guidelines and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Performs in-field research or fact-finding to develop or maintain the laboratory information management system (LIMS) and supporting subsystems. Candidate will support identification functional needs and requirements to fully integrate plant operations into sample work flows, preparing detailed specifications for the LIMS.
  • Performs system design and analysis to support code/system verification, validation test plans, and configuration management efforts to document the system requirements or performance.
  • Designs, codes, develops, modifies, and debugs LIMS for multiple functional areas with a particular emphasis on increased productivity, reliability and throughput.
  • Prepares and obtains approval of system and programming documentation. Maintains and documents the LIMS system design and testing documentation.
  • Contributes to performance and technical specifications to support the laboratories functional needs and sample requirements.
  • Provides support to system users, including on-call" support as required.
  • Contributes to interface with project IT program, coordinating security and software updates. Assists project IT with troubleshooting network and laboratory computers and peripherals.
  • Contributes to team effort, and secure client confidence in system quality.

Key Qualifications

  • Requires a Bachelor's Degree in Management Information, Computer Systems related degree, Business Administration or equivalent. Zero (0) to two (2) years experience programming, designing or analyzing systems required. Greater experience may be substituted for a lesser degree.
  • Strong skills in technical writing and MS Word required.
  • Minimal experience/class work in MS SQL and/or SQL-PL database exposure required.
  • Design experience in VS dot NET programming environments (preferably C#), Windows 10 operating environment, and Microsoft Office applications, desired.


Additional selection and retention criteria will include the ability to:

    The selected applicant will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet and maintain eligibility requirements to be placed in a Public Trust Position. In addition, applicant selected will be subject to qualification in accordance with Army Regulation 50-6, for placement in the Unescorted Access Program (UAP).
  • Flexibility to respond to urgent project requests and/or changing priorities. This position may require a greater than 40 hr. work week.
  • Drug-free workplace; urine testing for drugs are mandatory.
  • This position involves work near or with toxic and hazardous materials and requires ability to wear protective clothing/mask. Must be clean-shaven; must wear seat belts when driving or riding in vehicles on post.

$52,000 - $73,000
