Our client is a rapidly growing USDA Food Manufacturer based in Newark, NJ. Due to recent growth, they are adding a QA Manager to their team to help provide QA oversight. They are looking for an experienced QA Manager with 5+ years of QA experience working in a food manufacturing plant.

Responsibilities

  • Achieve QC and operational objectives by contributing to strategic plans.
  • Prepare and execute action plans based on non-conformances or internal auditing.
  • Implement and revise quality standards for production needs.
  • Identify and resolve quality and related problems.
  • Conduct internal audits and implement necessary changes.
  • Coordinate with suppliers on quality issues, new product developments, and other supply chain matters.
  • Maintain and improve product quality by conducting product and system audits and collaborating with management to develop new product designs and manufacturing methods.
  • Meet financial objectives by establishing an annual budget; scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; and initiating corrective actions.
  • Prepare quality documentation and reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends, including failed processes, stability studies, recalls, corrective actions, and re-validations.
  • Prepare timely reports related to quality, including monthly reports, consumer complaint summaries, and yield assessments.
  • Maintain effective communication with all levels of plant operations, providing timely updates on quality metrics, production challenges, and improvements.
  • Maintaining a work environment that is organized, efficient, and in line with company’s core values.

Requirements

  • Bachelors of Science degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Microbiology, or related field.
  • 5+ years of QA experience (2 years in a leadership role) in a food manufacturing, preferable USDA.
  • Detailed knowledge of food technology, food quality and food-related microbiology
  • Expertise in food manufacturing, USDA processes and packaging.
  • Knowledge of food purchasing, product costing, distribution and logistics
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, organize and complete multiple projects efficiently and on time; ability to manage work with minimal supervision
  • Some knowledge of Statistical Process Control desirable
  • Strong Communication and verbal, written presentation skills
  • Up to date with food safety laws and regulations (OSHA, USDA, FDA)
  • Experience supervising and conducting internal or external FSQA audits
