The Museum of Contemporary Art North Miami (MOCA) is seeking a highly motivated, strategic, and creative individual to join its leadership team as the Director of

Communications. This role is essential in shaping the museum’s public presence and driving engagement through innovative marketing and communication strategies.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and execute a comprehensive communications and marketing strategy to maximize the museum’s exposure, enhance audience engagement, and support its exhibitions, programs, collections, and special events.

• Collaborate across Departments to align marketing efforts with fundraising and membership initiatives.

• Shape and maintain the museum’s voice and brand identity, ensuring all written, visual, and spoken communications reflect a cohesive and compelling message.

• Manage and oversee all communications materials, ensuring they are well-designed, effective, and support the museum’s goals.

• Develop and execute a Marketing Development plan.

• Lead social media, brand awareness, and targeted advertising initiatives, while

staying on top of emerging trends and digital innovations.

• Serve as a spokesperson and media liaison during press events and previews,

strengthening the museum’s media relations.

• Create and manage audience outreach programs to increase visitor engagement and support the museum’s mission.

• Produce clear reports that track the effectiveness of marketing campaigns and outreach efforts.

• Develop and oversee the communications budget, ensuring resources are utilized effectively.

• Participate in Board of Trustees meetings and contribute to the museum’s long-term strategic planning.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Communications or related field required; Master’s degree

preferred.

• 4-5 years of progressive experience in communications, marketing, or public relations.

• Superior writing and verbal communication skills with a strong ability to craft impactful messaging.

• Expertise in digital marketing, branding, and social media management.

• Proven experience managing budgets and leading communication teams.

• Knowledge of communications tools (e.g., Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite, email marketing platforms).

• Experience with project management, including budget oversight and outcome tracking.

• Self-motivated, entrepreneurial, and able to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

• Bilingual in English and Spanish or Haitian Creole is preferred.

• Experience working in an arts/cultural setting is highly desirable, preferably in South Florida.

Compensation and Benefits:

• Starting salary of $75,000, commensurate with experience.

• A competitive benefits package, including health, dental, and vision insurance, and paid time off.

• Flexible schedule with occasional early mornings, evenings, and weekends required for events.

• A Level 2 background check is required for employment.
