Job Description

The FutureShirts Product Developer manages the development of new apparel and accessories products from concept through production. They collaborate closely with the Director of Creative and Product Development, Graphic Artists, Procurement, and Account Managers to ensure products meet quality standards, execution, timelines, and cost objectives.

Responsibilities And Accountabilities

The successful Product Developer will deliver outstanding results directly (responsibilities) and through others (accountabilities):

  • Responsible for leading the developmental process for new apparel and accessories products from initial design concept to final production for all merchandising revenue streams.
  • Responsible for collaborating with design team, clients, and account managers to translate concepts into technical specifications and prototype samples appropriate to the client, genre, market, and demographic.
  • Responsible for monitoring and managing product costing throughout the development process to achieve target margins.
  • Responsible for coordinating and documenting timelines amongst the account managers, tour team, procurement, ecommerce, and retail teams.
  • Responsible for identifying and sourcing appropriate blanks and techniques that align with design requirements and internal cost targets.
  • Responsible for sourcing products in support of the design team’s creative direction.
  • In collaboration with the procurement team, responsible for managing relationships with vendors and suppliers to ensure proper execution and costs.
  • Responsible for conducting quality inspections and communicating any findings and getting the product to the final stage to be production ready.
  • Responsible for maintaining accurate records and correspondences related to all products, design and tech packs among the manufacturers, design team, freelancers, procurement team, and account managers.
  • Responsible for staying up to date and informed about industry trends, market demands, competitor offerings to be on trend amongst our competitors.

Requirements

Qualifications

  • Experienced and proficient with Excel and Adobe suite
  • Experience with design tech packs and printing techniques
  • General knowledge of garment development and manufacturing processes
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively across cross functional teams
  • Detail oriented with strong organizational and project management
  • Able to utilize minimally complex computer software
  • Able to operate efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Courteous and professional demeanor.
