Software Engineering & Computing (SWEC) Department is a technical center of excellence in Software Engineering and Computing that:

• Provides technical leadership in the identification, development, and application of software best practices/technologies to sponsors' software projects.
• Improves quality and reduces cost and risk associated with software development, enhancement, and maintenance of sponsors' software systems.

The department is looking for student software engineers capable of developing on an independent level. Interns can expect to interface with MITRE employees and external sponsors.

Basic Qualifications:

• Must be a student enrolled full-time in an accredited degree-seeking program in Software Engineering] or a related degree and continue to be enrolled full-time the semester following the internship.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a US Government Secret Security Clearance.
• Hands on expertise in software development life cycle and is fully responsible for delivery - including definition, completion, and technical quality.
• Sustained excellence in academic performance

Preferred Qualifications:

• Excellent analytical, written, and oral communication skills.
• Demonstrated interest in serving the public
• Experience in software design and implementation
• Experience in agile software delivery (e.g., Scrum, XP)
• Fluent in one or more languages (e.g., Python, Ruby, Java, C++ or C#).
• Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
