Our team is searching for our next Principal Architect responsible for crafting creative and scalable systems and software solutions that address business/technical needs and challenges. You will lead sophisticated and strategic projects and provide architecture mentorship and solutions to our business partners. Our team defines technology strategy, maintains architecture standards for systems and applications including in-house development as well as third-party applications. We work in multi-functional teams, partner with the business, solution architects and technology teams to identify standards, analyze technology trends to develop reference architectures and roadmaps that guide the evolution of products and services. You'll mentorship and direction to project teams to ensure compliance with the standards and best practices.

We are looking for an overall Principal Architect with strong experience in Privacy regulations (e.g., CCPA, CPRA, GDPR, TCPA, COPPA, etc.), data architecture, microservices architecture, AI/ML, & messaging in order to design scalable technology solutions that align with T-Mobile's NorthStar architecture vision. The Principal Architect will define and design the overall privacy architecture to meet T-Mobile's NorthStar vision, as well as collaborate with Architecture Review Board & MTS community to ensure the Enterprise architecture is compliant with the Privacy regulations.

Responsibilities:

Build High Level Solution Design (HLSD) in support of enterprise projects and present HLSD to senior leadership during assessment reviews.

Develop proof-of-concept (POC) and prototypes to help illustrate approaches to technology and business problems.

Serve as Lead or Contributing Architect on multiple strategic projects representing and driving architectural design work.

Build positive relationships during ideation and vision stages of new projects - helping define solution options to drive case development prior to project funding and start-up.

Provide architectural assessments and work-effort estimates for the business and routinely as part of the project intake process for our architecture team.

Design solutions in-line with architecture roadmaps across systems involving multiple projects of high complexity, coordinating across many technical teams.

Responsible and accountable for the solution designs all the way to deployment.

Build scalable, extensible designs that are easy to implement and perform and follow standards for IT system design and enable success for IT teams.

Proactively identify, address and call out (if needed) when solutions are overly complex or will compromise implementation.

Communicate solution designs clearly in multiple modes of communication - drawings, documents.

Responsible to identify, analyze and design technical systems integration points across a broad range of systems and anticipate impacts.

Ability to define and refine requirements driving efficiencies and ROI in the business, while owning the technical impacts and trade-offs analysis.

Work with Business Partners, Business Analysts, Systems Analysts, Architects and end- users to understand and document system requirements for data, SLAs/Service Levels, User Experience, Archiving/legal requirements, training, data governance, and performance.

Translates business requirements into system impacts, functional requirements and functional specifications.

Works with the systems analysts (SAs), architects and developers of applications in the domain to translate requirements into operational technical specifications and ensure designs are scalable, extensible, repeatable and can be implemented with ease.

Attend project leadership meetings and help drive decisions and technical execution across multiple IT teams.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Candidates must have the following:

Minimum 5 years of experience of architecture and design experience

Minimum 2 years of experience in designing for designing high-volume microservices

Minimum 3 years of experience on UI/UX design, API design, including security, scalability, reliability, and usability

Minimum 3 years of experience in determining requirements, creating estimates, and initial designs

Minimum 2 years of experience on Cloud experience, especially Azure or AWS

Minimum 2 years of experience on Messaging experience, especially Kafka

Minimum 3 years of experience in progressive experience in software engineering/enterprise architecture/technology leadership across multiple products, systems and/or platforms coupled with strong business acumen and executive presence

Minimum 3 years of experience in working in solutions design and enterprise architecture delivering IT solutions

Minimum 3 years of experience in Enterprise applications, middle-tier services, database, storage, distributed computing, virtualization and/or application technology.

Proven ability executing high-profile projects and providing thought leadership to an organization

Work closely with Project Managers, Product Managers, business & technology stake holders to deliver architectural solutions.

Work with Product Managers to understand the requirements and create technical solution design.

Work with impacted upstream and downstream application teams to deliver new technology solutions.

Participate in Requirements Review, Capability Design and Feature Design meetings and actively contribute with architecture direction and solution.

Work with functional and performance testing team to ensure that the solution is meeting the requirements.

Design the solution to meet T-Mobile's Non-Functional Requirements such as performance, security and compliance.

Owns technical solution on cross domain initiatives. Develops innovative solutions and technology strategy. Owns E2E solution design strategy across teams.

Prepares and maintains design deliverables that include architecture diagrams, High Level Solution Design, data models, and API / micro-service architecture.

Develops design patterns and documentation of technical specifications

Extensive hands-on architect role experience leading designs for large and sophisticated projects

Ability to advise the work of other architects in a lead role.

10+ years or multiple implementations across full SDLC.

Experience working in a micro services, SOA and distributed architectures.

Authority at crafting architectural design drawings, topologies in multiple media - such as Visio, PowerPoint, and other visual communication methods

Sophisticated writing and communication skills for developing position papers and leading/driving other architectural discussions.

Education:

Minimum 4-year degree in computer science or related discipline

Technology certifications a plus

Base Pay Range: $123,900 - $223,600

Corporate Bonus Target: 20%

The pay range above is the general base pay range for a successful candidate in the role. The successful candidate's actual pay will be based on various factors, such as work location, qualifications, and experience, so the actual starting pay will vary within this range.

At T-Mobile, employees in regular, non-temporary roles are eligible for an annual bonus or periodic sales incentive or bonus, based on their role. Most Corporate employees are eligible for a year-end bonus based on company and/or individual performance and which is set at a percentage of the employee's eligible earnings in the prior year.
