Job SummaryThe Director of Retail will be responsible for overseeing all operational and daily retail aspects in leading all personnel, processes, and performance of the Retail Operations Division. This leader will be responsible for ensuring performance and production by our retail stores and staff. Role will lead retail management staff in achievement of goals and key business indicators ensuring the development of a strong retail reputation and overall retail success. This person will drive all retail management operations through assigned leadership and teams with initial focus on license stand up, policy creation/implementation, staffing and training in creating a culture of competence, customer service and compliance. The Director of Retail will be responsible for financial and sales reporting and facilitating forecasting, inventory procurement, and revenue growth goals. Role will ensure processes and personnel that result in quality customer experience while always maintaining operational efficiency. This role requires a consistent strategic leader that can critically think and communicate to a diverse range of people with a strong background in retail management, preferably in the cannabis industry. This role will report directly to the Chief Retail & Marketing Officer (CRMO).Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe following represents a non-exhaustive list of the duties and responsibilities of this position:Leadership|
- Accountable for ensuring an overall positive & professional work environment through assigned leadership to ensure clear expectations, standards, professionalism, teamwork, growth, and respect at all assigned levels and locations.
- Responsible for driving goals and performance standards of the Retail Operations Division in overseeing retail teams ensuring all policies, plans, personnel, and compliance meet company expectations and standards in the day-to-day operational execution, at our multiple dispensary locations in the State of Ohio.
- Accountable to ensure communication, training, and compliance. Establish and enforce processes to always ensure compliance and accountability pertaining to DCC guidelines in alignment with state and local regulations related to operating a cannabis dispensary.
- Create, train, and oversee retail leadership team on all internal and external compliance accountable tasks, cadences, and processes (I.e. inventory and record audits)
- Make recommendations to the CRMO/CEO on improvements to the retail operation, Company policies and procedures, and Company retail practices.
- Advise CRMO and aid execution of strategic decisions related to the design and construction of our retail locations.
- Advise on selection of Dispensary operating and digital management platforms.
- Advise CRMO and oversee implementation and enforcement of company personnel, policies, and procedures across all assigned levels.
- In coordination with Human Resources advise CRMO/CEO in development of Retail specific policies and handbook.
- Responsible for SOP development, maintenance process, and accountability of SOPs of assigned management and staff.
- Advise CRMO on operational best practices and process flows to optimize efficiency, responsible for ensuring accountability to processes.
- Create internal processes and cadences for day-to-day operation and management of retail stores.
- Advise & support CRMO in creation of staffing structure and hiring. Working closely with HR to create specific job descriptions, assigning specific responsibilities to specific roles promoting clear expectations, efficiency, and execution.
- Responsible for hiring and standing up of store management teams ensuring clear expectations and communications to meet timing benchmarks and quality standard.
- Create and oversee management training programs on internal and external policies, procedures, and products ensure training records are kept orderly and compliant.
- Develop and oversee dispensary management teams in the planning and execution of staff onboarding program and any quarterly/annual training as assigned.
- In support of CRMO, establish roll out benchmarks and timeline ensuring completion of assignments and tasks by tasked personnel in accordance with standard and strategic timeline as assigned.
- Responsible for driving and leading store leadership & teams optimizing performance, morale, and growth.
- Accountable to ensure all practices and personnel perform in accordance with HR policies and procedures.
- Conduct regularly occurring performance evaluations and provide ongoing coaching and development of assigned leaders.
- Responsible for fostering a customer-centric culture, ensuring exceptional customer service geared to high satisfaction and strong brand loyalty.
- Ensure Dispensary leadership and staff is knowledgeable and accountable about cannabis products and compliant with all regulations.
- Ensure staff and processes drive a positive customer service and experiences through problem resolution handled with professionalism and personality through policy.
- Accountable in remaining current and aware of industry regulations, updates, and best practices advising CRMO.
- Accountable to oversee and ensure the good working order of stores and key platforms ensuring minimal disruptions to the business.
- Responsible for facilitating proper communication and follow through working with peer Directors from support areas across the business.
- Accountable to ensure execution of strategic marketing plan and product campaigns/promotions.
- Advise on marketing approach and ensure timely execution of strategic promotions, product displays, and brand messaging across the different dispensary locations.
- Advise CRMO/CEO on market feedback and meaningful suggestions.
- Oversee facilitation of vendor support and events in coordination with store management.
- Responsible for driving achievement of correlated sales goal supported by marketing initiatives and events.
- Implement and maintain security protocols to protect employees, customers, and inventory.
- Implement internal processes and cadences around cleaning, supply inventory, and staff protocol working with store leadership to monitor and always maintain.
- Oversee strategic purchasing and inventory management, ensuring optimal stock levels and minimizing shrinkage. And effectively managed to strategic sales plan.
- Accountable to always ensure strict and timely inventory and cash management by retail store management team.
- Implement inventory control systems and conduct regular audits in accordance with State regulations, at a minimum.
- Responsible for ensuring optimal communication and working relationships with product suppliers while advising and facilitating procurement deals in support of CRMO/CEO.
- Responsible for financial reporting and forecasting of retail performance in support of CRMO/CEO.
- Establish required reports accompanied reporting cadence and expectations.
- Responsible for accuracy and timeliness sales and financial reports.
- Actively monitor financial performance, communicating and driving store management on sales strategy and approach to achieve financial goals.
- Accountable to aid in creation of Retail Operations operating budget and ensure future budget accountability in support of CRMO and Finance Director.
- Bachelor's degree in business administration, retail management, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in retail management, preferably in the cannabis industry.
- Strong understanding of cannabis regulations and compliance in Ohio.
- Proven track record of driving sales and enhancing customer experience.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in retail management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
- At least 21 years of age.
- The ability to lift 75 pounds regularly.
