As a Procurement Specialist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the timely acquisition of materials, parts, services, and supplies to support high-voltage transmission, substation, and distribution projects. You will manage the procurement process to deliver cost-effective, high-quality products while collaborating closely with various departments to meet project needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure project shipping addresses, field personnel details, and approval structures are accurately input into the system for PO processing
- Collaborate with departments to understand and meet specific procurement needs
- Negotiate pricing, delivery, service, and quality with vendors, securing the best available price while maintaining established standards for quality and service
- Select suppliers and procure necessary parts and services, ensuring specifications align with project requirements
- Resolve delivery issues such as shortages, damages, or invoicing discrepancies by maintaining close contact with suppliers
- Collaborate with departments on material substitutions and make vs. buy decisions
- Inform management of market and pricing changes that could impact operations or budgets
- Assist in soliciting bid prices from subcontractors for appropriate portions of the project when needed
- Load and maintain pricing information in the procurement system, ensuring accuracy and transparency
- Conduct regular meetings with Project Managers and Job Superintendents to assess material requirements and delivery timelines
- Expedite material deliveries by maintaining ongoing communication with vendors, ensuring timely delivery of all necessary components
- Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field preferred (or 4 years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree)
- Experience in the power utilities or industrial environment preferred
- Strong interpersonal communication skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM) is a plus
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (including SharePoint) preferred
- Experience with Bluebeam Revu or Adobe Acrobat preferred
- Familiarity with Deltek VantagePoint or other accounting system software preferred
