Position Overview

Full-time teaching position, tenure-track, with additional responsibilities related to the academic program, reporting to the Dean of the Gilbert College of Business.

Essential Job Functions

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Teaching, generally twenty-four semester hours per academic year
  • Working in a professional and team-oriented manner with faculty, staff, and administrators
  • Meeting assigned classes regularly, beginning and ending class sessions as scheduled
  • Engaging in academic advising with students and supporting students’ personal and professional development
  • Developing course syllabi and teaching plans
  • Designing new courses, as necessary
  • Assessing student learning
  • Participating in faculty governance, including attending meetings— undergraduate, full faculty, college, and committee—and fulfilling attendant responsibilities
  • Maintaining office hours and working one-on-one and in small groups with students, as appropriate
  • Engaging in scholarly work to ensure the incumbent remains current in the field

Secondary Job Functions

  • Assisting with student recruitment
  • Directing and attending non-class activities including those related to the College of Business Club

Qualifications

  • A commitment to fostering an environment of diversity and inclusion among students, faculty, and staff.
  • MBA (or closely related master’s degree) from a fully accredited institution required, Ph.D. preferred
  • Demonstrated business experience outside academe (minimum 2-4 years)
  • Demonstrated commitment to undergraduate, residential, liberal arts education
  • Teaching experience preferred but not required
  • Knowledge and experience sufficient to enable the candidate to develop and teach undergraduate management, marketing, and finance courses
  • Ability to deliver and to assist students in understanding course content
  • Ability to evaluate student writing and to provide effective feedback
  • Ability to work cooperatively with faculty colleagues, in the best interests of the students
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing with students, faculty, staff, and administrators
  • Ability to adapt to changing teaching and learning environments and content-delivery methods
  • Ability to prioritize responsibilities, meet deadlines, and respond to students’ legitimate needs in a timely manner
  • Ability and willingness to work with students of all skill levels and academic backgrounds
  • Ability and willingness to perform clerical work for oneself, as necessary
  • Must be able to consistently present a positive attitude and contribute to a harmonious team environment

Work Schedule: Onsite classes are generally scheduled between 8 am and 5 pm. Some classes, laboratories, events, and/or meetings may be scheduled in the evening or on weekends.
