Responsibilities of a Senior Associate - Innovation & Product Strategy

We are seeking a dynamic and forward-thinking candidate specializing in Innovation and Product Management to join our team. The ideal candidate will bring a wealth of experience in driving innovation, managing the entire product lifecycle, and fostering a culture of creative problem-solving.

As a Senior Associate - Innovation and Product Strategy you will help analyze organizations’ current capabilities, evaluate opportunities for improvement, and partner with clients to develop and implement a roadmap to achieve their desired future state vision. This involves conducting in-depth capability assessments, identifying innovation gaps, leveraging emerging technologies, and creating actionable product strategies. Furthermore, you will facilitate workshops to generate creative solutions, prototype new ideas, and test their viability, ensuring that clients can successfully navigate the complex landscape of product development and innovation.

Specifically, you will use the firm’s analytical frameworks and methodologies (STAR, World Class IT, the Digital Maturity Assessment, Getting to Nimble, and others) to drive innovation and strategic product development on various aspects of client assignments. Working closely with other members of the firm, you will unpack complex situations and develop recommendations that make a lasting impact on the success of our clients’ businesses.

Senior Associates will be responsible for leveraging your deep understanding of industry trends, consumer behavior, and emerging technologies to craft strategies that not only meet, but exceed, client expectations. Your ability to analyze data, generate insights, and translate them into actionable plans will be essential. You will also play a key role in mentoring client teams, facilitating workshops, and providing thought leadership to ensure successful project outcomes and sustained growth.

Your focus will be on fostering innovation and driving product strategy to help clients stay ahead in their respective markets. As part of this focus, you will assist clients in defining product strategies, designing the underlying product operating model and innovation processes, hosting innovation sessions, and training global agile product development teams on best practices.

Qualifications And Expectations

  • Strong ability to navigate ambiguity and untangle complex scenarios involving disparate data sources, particularly in the context of innovation and product development
  • Experience managing small projects or project workstreams, with responsibility for up to 3 junior staff, in a fast-paced professional services environment
  • Proven experience in product management, innovation strategy, and consulting, with a track record of successful projects
  • Proven ability to create and manage structured work plans to meet client expectations and guide project team execution
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to manage and synthesize large amounts of data.
  • Ability to conduct thorough market research and analysis to identify opportunities and inform product strategies.
  • Strong capacity to manage client relationships and communicate complex business topics to senior-level business and technology client executives.
  • Business and technology acumen, with concrete examples of having helped companies solve complex business problems using a combination of people, processes, and technology solutions
  • 4-8 years of post-undergraduate experience working with teams in a professional services strategy and management consulting environment, with a focus on innovation and product strategy.
  • Graduate-level education in innovation and/or product management
  • Mastery of spreadsheet and presentation applications, such as MS-PowerPoint and MS-Excel
  • Additional capabilities with data analysis tools such as Tableau, visualization tools such as MS-Visio, and other productivity tools are a plus
  • Professional certifications in Digital Leadership, SAFe Agilist a must
  • Proven entrepreneurial spirit with an outcome-oriented approach to business and a bias for action, particularly in driving innovative solutions and product strategies.

What Metis Strategy Has To Offer

The standard base pay range for this role is $115,000 - $180,000, annually. This position is also eligible for bonus compensation. Compensation and benefits are competitive and will be commensurate with each individual candidate’s qualifications and relevant work experience.
