Senior Engineer, Systems

As a Senior Engineer, Systems, you will be a leader within Kaney for the successful design and implementation of aerospace products for use in aircraft systems. You will be responsible for the flow down of requirements and ensuring requirement alignment to verification and validation activities. You will apply a solid systems engineering mindset to guide Kaney programs throughout the life of programs including proposal, design, qualification, certification and sustainment.

Major Responsibilities:

• Work with the Kaney business development team to propose system solutions to meet customer needs that can be qualified and/or certified within schedule and budget
• Work with the rest of the design engineering team to bring designs to life by decomposing high-level requirements into valid lower-level requirements, owning verification matrices and dictating a mindful approach to verification and validation
• Responsible for knowing key system functions at the next-higher level, and working with the design team to achieve effective designs fit for their end-use
• Develop qualification plans, procedures and reports
• Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams, including engineers, hardware specialists, and quality assurance
• Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior engineers, fostering a collaborative and knowledge-sharing environment
• Offer technical support to internal teams and external stakeholders, ensuring effective problem resolution

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor s degree in Engineering or other related discipline
• Minimum 7 years of aerospace experience
• Working knowledge of requirements management tools

Minimum Competencies:

• Seasoned knowledge of aerospace requirements and demonstrated ability to incorporate those requirements into product design/process
• Openly shares responsibility for the effect of technical decisions/judgments on program schedules or goals critical to the organization with other high-level engineers and managers
• Ability to interact effectively with representatives of customers, marketing, and sales force to establish market needs and product/process definition
• Remains current on field of expertise and technological direction
• Ability to manage technical risk.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Working knowledge of ARP-4754, DO-160, DO-178, DO-254, MIL-STD-461and MIL-STD-810

Preferred Competencies:

• Model Based Systems Engineering Experience
• Experience with MATLAB/Simulink
• Familiarity with communications standards and protocols (e.g., ARINC 429, CAN, RS-485, Ethernet)

Operational Details / Work Environment:

• Work activities may be performed at Company facilities or at the facilities of the company s customers.
• Work will be performed both in an office environment and in a laboratory environment.
• Travel to customer site may be required.
• PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) may be required in some workspaces.
