Intuitive Machines is seeking a Flight Dynamics Engineer to join our team. This position will be with the Mission Analysis Cycle (MAC) group in support of our growing Lunar Lander Team. The applicant will be located on-site in Houston, TX. The candidate will work in a cross-functional team on the analysis, development, manufacture, test, and on-orbit operation of flight and ground support hardware, such as Lunar Lander Structure and secondary systems.

Responsibilities:

  • Take ownership of the internally developed Mission Design Toolset (MDT)
  • Create 6DOF attitude mission timelines from 3DOF trajectories, payload requirements, and other constraints
  • Run, modify, create scripts and source code to assess vehicle change impacts among various subsystems for IM s current and future lunar missions
  • Interface with all subsystems to improve processes, gather inputs, and provide output
  • Present results to control boards, participate in high level design and analysis discussions

Requirements:

  • B.S degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related discipline and minimum of 3 years of experience in root cause analysis or related discipline; or M.S. degree in Aerospace Engineering or related discipline and a minimum of 2 years of experience
  • Proficiency with Python, Linux, 6DOF simulation, trajectory design, linear algebra, quaternion math, frame transformations
  • Familiarity with commonly used space and commercial specifications
  • Experience with Microsoft Office suite.
  • Solid experience with C/C++, Trick, Bash, VSCode, Git, GitLab, SpiceyPy, Matplotlib, Numpy, Confluence, Jira, Agile, Kalman Filters, Monte Carlo, nonlinear optimization, MPI
