GDIT has an opportunity for a Quality Assurance Specialist to support the modernization and sustainment of a large portfolio of enterprise business solutions used by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). The position supports a new program, the NASA Consolidated Applications and Platform Services (NCAPS) which consolidates enterprise-wide applications and platform services across the Agency and supports the Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO) Application Division transformation into the Application and Platform Service (APS) Line with agile based service delivery and IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL) based service management practices.

The Quality Assurance Specialist will support enterprise programs across a broad range of systems and software technologies. The ideal candidate will have a deep technical understanding of Agile Software Development practices and experience delivering releasable software. In this role, they will be responsible for providing development of project Software Quality Assurance Plans and the implementation of procedures that conform to the requirements of the contract. They will provide an independent assessment of how the project’s software development process is being implemented relative to the defined process and recommends methods to optimize the organization’s process.

The Quality Assurance Specialist will be responsible for activities involving quality assurance throughout the development life cycle and will develop and continually evaluate quality processes and system standards to ensure compliance with company standards and governmental regulatory requirements. They will engage across the team to support resolution of negative quality findings; conduct statistical analyses of testing results and process anomalies; write documentation for new and current validation procedures and technical reports; and may assist with establishing validation policies.

They will recommend revisions to operating policies and procedures; frequently lead a centralized functional activity; and will function as advisors on all projects and tasks assigned to the organizational units under supervision while ensuring all goals and objectives of an initiative and the program are accomplished within contract terms and conditions.

Responsibilities:

The Quality Assurance Specialist is responsible for all activities associated with delivery of customer-defined systems and software projects responsibilities include:

  • Develop and implement procedures and test plans for assuring quality in a system development environment which supports large databases and applications
  • Provide technical/management leadership on major tasks or technology assignments
  • Establish and maintain a process for evaluating hardware, software, and associated documentation and/or assists in the evaluation
  • Develop and implement quality control methodologies to ensure compliance with quality assurance standards, guidelines, and procedures in a large computer-based organization
  • Develop and execute software test plans to identify software problems and their causes
  • Conduct quality audits and review/analyze related data and documentation
  • Maintain relevant metrics that help the team monitor and improve quality
  • Supporting long-and short-range planning
  • Strengthening the presence of the team as an Agile center of excellence; actively contributing to the organization Agile Community
  • Analyzing project-related problems and creating innovative solutions involving scheduling, technology, methodology, tools and solution components
  • Performing scheduled and allocated work, providing advice and guidance, and resolving problems to meet technical performance and financial objectives
  • Developing new and refining existing processes to enhance quality and productivity
  • Reviewing and evaluating work and preparing periodic performance reports
  • Ensuring product quality and timeliness of efforts
  • Manage a team of experienced technical professional

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Management Systems or a related discipline.
  • Professional Experience: 8 plus years related technical experience.
  • Public Trust clearance, and ability to obtain higher level, if needed.
  • Strong software development background, with a minimum of 3 years of experience in incremental software development projects using an Agile Scrum approach.
  • SAFe certification.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience participating in a high performing, highly engaged and motivated team.
  • Understanding of all elements of the software development life cycle

The likely salary range for this position is $61,200 - $82,800. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
