Job Description

The University of Northern Iowa's Department of Educational Psychology, Foundations, and Leadership Studies in the College of Education seeks applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Quantitative Methods and Assessment in Education position, starting in August 2025. This position will teach EdD and master's courses in research methods and quantitative methods, and undergraduate courses in classroom assessment or other teacher preparation courses as needed. The successful candidate will have expertise in educational research methodologies and quantitative statistical methods, with the ability to support teaching and research at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.

Responsibilities

Teach and develop courses in graduate level research methods, graduate level quantitative methods, and undergraduate classroom assessment or other courses in the undergraduate educator preparation program; support and mentor doctoral (EdD) and masters students in dissertation research, theses, and research papers with a particular emphasis on quantitative methods aspects of their work; engage in an active program of research, with the potential for securing external funding; collaborate with faculty across the College of Education on interdisciplinary research, teaching, and service initiatives; and provide service to the department, college, university, and community through committee work, graduate student advising, and curriculum development.

Required Qualifications

Earned doctorate in Education, Educational Psychology, Educational Measurement, Learning Sciences, Quantitative Methods, or a closely related field by the start date; evidence of, or potential for, an active research agenda in assessment or quantitative methods in educational settings; and experience, or demonstrated interest, in teaching research methods, quantitative methods, and/or assessment in education or other courses in the educator preparation program required.

Preferred Qualifications

Expertise in advanced quantitative methods as well as experimental or quasi-experimental designs; experience teaching in online, hybrid, and face-to-face formats; experience mentoring graduate or undergraduate students, particularly on research design and quantitative methodologies; and evidence of securing external research funding preferred.
