Job Title: Loadout Supervisor

Department: Rendering Plant Operations

Reports To: Plant Manager/Operations Manager

Job Summary

The Loadout Supervisor is responsible for managing the daily operations of the loadout area at the rendering plant. This role ensures that all materials are loaded onto trucks accurately, efficiently, and safely for transportation to customers or other processing plants. The Loadout Supervisor will oversee the performance of the loadout team, monitor equipment, and ensure compliance with safety, quality, and environmental regulations.

Key Responsibilities

Work Environment

  • Supervision & Leadership:
    • Direct, supervise, and coordinate the activities of loadout employees, including drivers and material handlers.
    • Develop and train team members on proper loading techniques, safety procedures, and compliance regulations.
    • Manage work schedules and assign tasks to ensure productivity and efficiency.
  • Loadout Operations:
    • Oversee the accurate weighing, recording, and loading of raw materials or finished products onto trucks.
    • Ensure the timely and efficient dispatch of vehicles to meet delivery schedules.
    • Collaborate with the logistics and dispatch team to ensure loadout processes align with transportation needs.
  • Quality Control & Compliance:
    • Ensure that all loaded materials meet quality standards and specifications.
    • Maintain compliance with safety, health, environmental, and regulatory guidelines (such as USDA, EPA, and OSHA).
    • Conduct routine inspections of loadout areas and equipment to identify and address safety hazards or maintenance issues.
  • Equipment Maintenance & Troubleshooting:
    • Monitor the performance of loadout equipment (e.g., conveyors, loaders, scales) to ensure proper functioning.
    • Coordinate with maintenance personnel to schedule repairs or preventive maintenance on loadout equipment.
    • Troubleshoot and resolve minor technical or operational issues that arise during the loadout process.
  • Reporting & Documentation:
    • Maintain accurate records of loadouts, inventory levels, and equipment maintenance.
    • Prepare reports on loadout operations, productivity metrics, and any incidents or issues encountered.
    • Assist in conducting safety audits and implementing corrective actions when needed.
    • Safety & Environmental Management:
    • Enforce safety policies and procedures to minimize the risk of accidents and injuries in the loadout area.
    • Participate in safety programs and conduct safety meetings for the loadout team.
    • Ensure Proper handling of waste and by products in compliance with environment regulations.
    • Communication & Cordination:
    • Work Closely with plant management, logistics teams, and customers to ensure timely and accurate deliveries.
    • Coordinate with other departments (e.g., production, maintenance ) to maintain smooth operations.
    • Communicate effectively with drivers, dispatch, and external partners regarding loading requirements and schedules.
    • Qualifications:
      • Education: High school diploma or GED is required; a degree in logistics, operations management, or a related field is preferred.
      • Experience:
        • 2-5 years of experience in loadout operations, logistics, or plant operations, preferably in a rendering or similar industrial environment.
        • Prior supervisory or leadership experience is highly preferred.
      • Skills & Competencies:
        • Strong leadership and organizational skills.
        • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
        • Knowledge of safety and regulatory requirements related to transportation and rendering operations.
        • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
        • Proficient in the use of loadout equipment and basic computer systems (e.g., inventory management software).
      • Physical Requirements:
        • Ability to stand, walk, and move around for extended periods of time.
        • Ability to lift heavy objects and work in varying weather and environmental conditions.
        • Must be comfortable working in a potentially noisy, dirty, and odorous environment typical of rendering plants.
    • Physical Demands
      • Frequently required to walk, stand, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crawl, and crouch.
      • Frequently required to lift up to 50 lbs.
      • Occasionally required to push, pull, or move up to 50 lbs.
      • Regularly required reach with hands and arms.
Job functions will be carried out in the plant environment and on outside grounds of the property. The job will be carried out in extremely hot and cold environments.
