The cybersecurity data analyst is responsible for conducting analysis on data for improving and optimizing cybersecurity efforts. This position will be responsible for developing and reporting on key performance indicators to measure the effectiveness of the program. In addition to the cybersecurity data analyst role, there will be multiple specialties within this labor category.
The minimum qualifications apply to all cybersecurity data analysts, with the specialized requirements listed within their section. The minimum qualifications are as follows:
1. At least three years of experience in cybersecurity with at least 1 year of that experience in data analysis.
2. Good communication and customer relationship skills
3. Working knowledge of Splunk SPL
4. Strong communication skills both written and verbal.
5. Detail oriented, self-motivated, proactive and results driven.
6. Must work well with others and promote a positive Team environment.
7. Ability to perform in a fast-paced environment.
8. Experience with reporting tools having previously developed reports.
9. Excellent team leadership and team building skills.
10. Ability to perform critical thinking in data analysis.
11. Excellent analytical and troubleshooting abilities with attention to detail.
The Data Analyst will:
- extract data from various databases
- perform exploratory data analysis, cleanse, massage, and aggregate data
- Employs scaling & automation to data preparation techniques
- Determines analytics approach to solve problems
- Connects insights to security decision making options and next steps testing or research opportunities.
- Understands initiatives and serves as primary analytic resource in discussions with partners to define security questions.
- Drives creation of final insights package and recommendations.
- Directs analytic component of implementation of insights into security processes and ensures appropriate testing takes place.
- Develops project proposals, gains stakeholder buy-in, and ensures timelines are met.
- Promotes and advocates value of advanced analytics to solve security problems within department. Mentors data security analysts.
