Job Summary

The Planner is responsible for analyzing business trends and identifying opportunities to drive retail & net sales to achieve plan and reduce the liability of unproductive inventory. The Planner works in partnership with the Sell-In Team, Sales Operations team and respective Retail Account Buying Teams to maximize inventory, resulting in achievement of gross and net sales budget.

Sell-In

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Support and partner with Director and KAE in building bottoms up budgets and on-going forecasting and achievement of retail and net sales plans
  • In partnership with Director, develop CEP & mid-month retail and shipment projections with timely communication to ED on changes
  • Build and revise monthly retail HPLN in accordance with monthly CEP projections, collaborating with cross-functional partners to ensure alignment
  • Forecast returns and DIFs, managing discontinuations to reduce RTV liabilities, retrieving necessary approvals, and partnering with finance on timing and estimates
  • Using COGNOS and retailer reporting, pull weekly sales data and build weekly recaps, analyzing sell-thru results by retailer
  • Provide weekly sales recap to key internal stakeholders and leadership, summarizing achievements, promotions, marketing activities
  • Execute ad hoc reporting and analysis requests
  • Build retail sales plans for new launches, tracking achievement and sell-thru of established sales objectives, including analysis for Limited Edition and Holiday product lines
  • Support monthly consensus process by providing updated retailer sku projections, insights, and relevant reporting
  • Analyze retailer OTB monthly, ensuring no changes or potential issues after each month’s lock
  • Ensure orders are received from Account Buyers on a timely basis; build relationship with customer service team to problem solve PO errors
  • Track ROI and sales lift on retailer secondary exposures and marketing activities to inform co-op spend

Sell-Through

  • Manage new store opening paperwork.
  • Collaborate with internal partners on creating sales goals by door, week, quarter, and channel during budgeting and re-trending moments
  • Assist field team as needed with sell through data to help achieve retail sales plans, reinforcing marketing objectives.

Qualifications & Competencies

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent combination of education and years of experience
  • Minimum 3 years of retail planning experience (Buying office or extensive Headquarter experience)
  • Extremely proficient in MS Excel (pivot tables, vlookups, sum if, subtotal, count, find/replace, sorting, formatting, etc.)
  • Highly skilled in inventory planning, forecasting gross/net shipments, and bottoms up build required
  • Ability to fully read, analyze and understand retailer OTBs
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and fluctuating deadlines with a high number of tasks
  • Strong knowledge and experience with the prestige cosmetic industry & retail planning systems, with open-sell retailers preferred
  • Attention to detail, high sense of responsibility, dependable and self-starter
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships within Shiseido and with retail partners
  • Must be flexible and adaptive to changing priorities
