Job Description

Job Summary: Designs, develops, and tests ultraviolet curing equipment. Works with independence at the device, component, or system level. Works under minimal supervision. Salary is negotiable and based on experience.

Essential Duties:

  • Designs mechanical equipment, including concept development, analysis, design layout, prototype development and test
  • Identifies requirements for equipment, develops concepts, and works with other engineers, contractors, and assemblers to produce prototype models.
  • Works with document control to produce and verify manufacturing documentation. Documents designs to the appropriate level and release designs for the build.
  • Develop test plans and conduct tests necessary to verify design.
  • Works with manufacturing to resolve manufacturing problems.
  • Works with controls, electrical, and software personnel to identify and develop machine control systems.
  • Establishes and maintains vendor contacts necessary for procurement of parts and materials.
  • Prepares specifications, design reports, and equipment manuals.
  • Works with customers and sales in developing design requirements.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • BS degree in Mechanical Engineering and1 - 3 years experience.
  • Able to lift 30 lbs.
  • Full working knowledge of 3D CAD software. (Solidworks, AutoCAD, Autodesk Inventor, Pro/E) Autodesk Inventor 2011 preferred.
  • Knowledge of the following:
  • * General mechanical design, mechanisms, dynamics of motion
  • * Materials, finishes and protective coatings
  • * Heat transfer analysis
  • * Feedback control systems
  • * Stress and strain
  • * Test and measurement equipment

Ability to apply engineering fundamentals to solve complex mechanical design problems.
