Analogic Corporation is seeking an experienced OS Engineer to join our team in Peabody, MA. The successful candidate will be responsible for installing, configuring, hardening, and maintaining Linux operating systems for our advanced scanning devices. This role involves porting code from end-of-life (EOL) Linux distributions, creating custom installers using Kickstart and Ansible, and working closely with our cybersecurity team to continuously enhance OS security. The OS Engineer will also engage in system integration and collaborate with our test team to ensure quality assurance (SQA) across all systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install, configure, and maintain Linux OS on scanning devices.
  • Harden Linux OS in collaboration with the cybersecurity team, ensuring ongoing security and compliance.
  • Develop and maintain custom installers for the Linux OS using Kickstart and Ansible.
  • Port existing code from end-of-life Linux distributions to supported versions.
  • Perform system integration, ensuring seamless operation of software and hardware components.
  • Work with the test team to conduct system quality assurance (SQA), identifying and resolving any issues.
  • Provide ongoing support and updates to the Linux OS environment as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience in Linux OS installation, configuration, and maintenance.
  • Strong experience with Kickstart and Ansible for creating and managing OS installers.
  • Proven track record of hardening Linux OS environments in collaboration with cybersecurity teams.
  • Experience with porting code from outdated or unsupported Linux distributions.
  • Solid understanding of system integration and SQA processes.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience integrating with hardware devices
  • Familiarity with various Linux distributions, including legacy and current versions.
  • Knowledge of regulatory standards and compliance requirements in a secure OS environment.
