Project Background
IT QA uses excessive manpower in testing NextGen Systems manually. Test Automation Project Lead is needed to develop automation test strategy to reduce manual efforts, deliver testing signoff quickly and timely in ensuring only quality product is released into production. This project lead is to support Client's IT transformation towards QA automation-first-approach and innovation for release project delivery and program-level initiatives.
Objective of the Role:
Our client's IT transformation towards digital innovation requires continuous test automation practice and solutions for various applications-under-test (AUT) in support of agile and waterfall release delivery. Automation-First-Approach is a multiyear program initiated to automate regression test suites, acceptance test suites, functional agile / waterfall driven projects for improving the quality and accuracy of software development systems. Automation-First-Approach project will be driven through new Core Platform Framework implementations, AI-Based QA Bot rollouts, Building Rate Test Engine tools, and delivering various engineering initiatives for DevOps and Cloud Native products.
The role is to ensure end-to-end successful delivery for complex programs, projects, or multiple initiatives in the workers compensation insurance business applications and digital transformation. The Senior Test Automation Lead is accountable for the overall Automation practice for the applications, ensuring improved coverage of Test Automation and fast track Regression Cycles.
The Senior Test Automation Lead will be primarily responsible for all Technical Automation deliverables for UI Automation, API Automation, Web/Mobile automation and other key automation testing. The Senior Test Automation Lead will set high standards of delivery and track automation metrics within the software development lifecycle. It includes automating Policy, Billing and Claims area projects to ensure its success by coordinating with different QE, Dev / DevOps and business teams, resources, and activities.
To play a key role in successful delivery, it is essential to have a good technical understanding of (web) applications and SDLC processes in general, taking a hands-on approach to define and deliver embodying and driving a culture of continuous improvement. This role requires you to help drive our strategy, priority, and planning across a variety of teams, cultures, and time zones.
TASKS:
- Leads the design, customization & development of the Test Automation framework / harness and any in-house tools/frameworks, adapting Scritpless automation and/or new automation technologies.
- Collaborate with Platform team and develop a short-term and long-term test automation strategy/roadmap for Client.
- Conducts research to identify tools, automation frameworks and methodologies for overall efficiency improvements in test automation.
- Collaborating cross functionally with Test Architects and Test Leads to proactively analyze current processes and practices and defining improvements of test strategy, test frameworks, infrastructure, tools and test coverage.
- Key Deliverables depending on the application supported: Test Automation Strategy, Test Automation Plan, Test Automation Coverage Metrics, Test Automation Framework (UI, API, and Mobile etc), Test Automation Traceability Matrix, Test Automation Execution reports, Test Automation User Guide, Test Automation Summary Report, and ROI Analysis Report etc.
- Seasoned technical leader with in-depth understanding of emerging technologies and their commercial applications.
- Conduct tool evaluation, Proof of Concept and identifying the right candidates for automation.
- Conduct QE Optimization using CI/CD/CT and other processes optimization. Increase batch process automation footprint to replicate upstream data generation.
- Responsible for implementing NextGen applications test automation and modernization.
- SME (Subject Matter Expert) in Delivering complex testing end-to-end project & needs such as requirement review, technical assessment, test estimation, meet defined target timelines, represent QE in project meetings, and supporting team during testing phase and hands-on involved in Automation & manual execution across releases wherever applicable.
- Constantly look for opportunities to improve test automation methodologies, test automation coverage and efficiency with high standards, Increase batch process automation footprint to replicate upstream data generation.
- Senior Test Automation Lead will provide necessary technical trainings to the extended CALIF teams, as needed
- Required Time Allocation:
- 60% - Test automation Initiatives - inherit and enhance existing automation frameworks; create test scripts, methodologies, strategies and approaches; driving automation deliverables for projects, expanding and growing automation test coverage every release by certain percentage set forth by IT QA leadership team and helping the team to meet the goals for the year. Reporting automation progress against the SLAs/Objectives defined
- 20% - Technical guidance, & oversight of assigned test automation team
- 20% - Close coordination with multiple IT & business stakeholders, Connecting dots in automation, ROI assessments and supporting Test Automation Platform Team.
- Master s or Bachelor s Degree with 14+ years of (QE) Quality Engineering test automation experience in developing Automation Scripts using Selenium, TestNg, AutoIT, Grid & Webdriver, xPath utilities, custom reports, trend analysis, file difference / compare tools, Protractor, Watir
- 10+ years of hands-on programming/scripting experience in Java. Python\Ruby\C# programming is an added advantage but the primary essential coding skill required is Java.
- Expert knowledge with design and development of automation frameworks and being able to represent quality function during feature design.
- Conduct workshops to assess the capability of current Delivery Strategy, road map and suggested Artificial Intelligence based RPA
- Highly analytical decision-maker with extensive experience in building, turning around, and operating large Dev + QA programs, along with proven history of increasing productivity and turning around difficult situations
- Seasoned executive with in-depth understanding of emerging technologies and their commercial applications,
- Motivated self-starter who implemented multiple Technology Consulting/R&D activities during entire career, as well as consistent digital delivery owner
- Expert knowledge with cloud computing and technologies (AWS Stack highly desirable).
- Enterprise Implementation knowledge in Industry automation tool best practice implementation and must have script less automation implementation experience
- Creating a vision for a solution and leading a team to build it
- Working with clients to drive transformational change in the way they deliver application testing services in their organizations
- Inspiring, mentoring and coaching teams members with a goal of fostering an innovative and inclusive team-oriented work environment
- Sharing your knowledge and developing engagement tools and enablers to build capability for the practice
- Experience having transformed QA/QE organizations to SDET/DevSecOps
- Define and implement automation test processes, strategies, and approaches for complex test requirements with the support from the Technical Architect and get buy in from different stakeholders
- Ability to think innovative and contribute to the success of the products, processes and customer experience
- Additionally, the Principal QE Solution Architect will also support the smoke/sanity testing requirements of DevOps Release Engineering team after build deployments. These build tests will ensure that the code drops to quality assurance are of the highest quality.
- The Principal QE Solution Architect will provide a practical approach to complex product testing, specifically in the areas of the automation of test cases for the purposes of regression testing. He/she will be a creative and proactive thinker and will make use of current technologies to provide extensible automation infrastructures
- Successful track record as a 'hands on' leader within QA teams, building and managing teams to a level of top-notch professionals
