SUMMARY
The Senior Research Associate 3 supports research activities under the direction of a principle investigator, program director or designee of the principle investigator or program director.
CORE JOB FUNCTIONS
Contributes to basic and applied research activities by collecting and analyzing data. Understands and interprets research protocols and procedures.
Maintains an overview of relevant research findings.
Ensures all research is undertaken according to good research practice.
Designs, evaluates, and implements methods and protocols for assigned research projects.
Recommends purchase of new equipment for research projects. Writes scientific articles and manuscripts for publication and presentation.
Oversees and ensures the safe handling of radioactive and hazardous materials.
Prepares analytical reports relative to research data.
Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

- Experience in Social Network Analysis (SNA) research design, implementation, and analyses in a public health setting.
- Experienced in bivariate and multivariate analyses using R and in translating findings into manuscripts, conference presentations, and/or reports.
- Ability to work with geographical information software such as ArcGIS to create, map, and visualize spatial data related to public health.
- Skilled in advanced SNA modeling such as
- Quadratic Assignment Procedure (QAP)
- Multiple Regression Quadratic Assignment Procedure (MRQAP)
- Multilevel Modeling (MLM)
- Quadratic Assignment Procedure (QAP)
- Prepares data, conducts statistical analysis, and summarizes results for large research projects.
- Performs various data analytics manipulation tools such as cleaning, transforming, pivoting, and visualizing data for optimal data use.
- Interprets analyses and writes statistical sections of study reports.
- Maintains and documents studies' databases.
- Analyzes, evaluates, and reports on complex observation research data.
- Oversee the collection, storage, and integration of moderate to large sized complex datasets from multiple research projects and studies.
- Manage data pipelines by building dashboards to ensure data quality assurance and control.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to staff and graduate students on data best practices, including data management, analysis techniques, and resolving complex data queries.
- Ensure that data management practices comply with relevant regulatory standards per University of Miami's guidelines regarding data security and protection of PHI.
Knowledge, Skills and Attitudes:
- Experienced in SNA visualization tools such as Python, R, and UCINET to create personal and whole networks
- Performed statistical analysis using a variety of statistical models such as parametric, non-parametric hypothesis testing, linear regression, logistic regression, survival analysis, and longitudinal data modeling using GEE and mixed effects model methods.
- Experienced in cleaning and merging big data using pivoting techniques in R, SAS or Python.
