Job Duties

As the Lead Mechanical Engineer, you will:

  • Design & Build: Lead the design and development of mechanical systems for drones, focusing on structural integrity, performance, and manufacturability.
  • Prototype Development: Oversee the creation and testing of prototypes, ensuring the mechanical systems are optimized for both performance and safety.
  • Collaborative Engineering: Work closely with electrical, software, and flight operations teams to integrate mechanical designs into the overall drone architecture.
  • Manufacturing Oversight: Manage the manufacturing process, including working with suppliers, fabricators, and quality control teams to ensure the high reliability of all mechanical components.
  • Documentation: Create and maintain detailed documentation of mechanical designs, assembly instructions, and testing protocols.
  • Team Leadership: Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers and technicians, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.

Qualifications

We are seeking candidates with the following qualifications:

  • Educational Background: Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Experience: A minimum of 5 years of experience in mechanical design, with expertise in developing complex systems, preferably in aerospace, drones, or related industries.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in 3D CAD modeling (e.g., SolidWorks, Fusion 360) and experience with design for manufacturing principles.
  • Leadership: Proven ability to lead engineering teams and manage cross-functional collaboration between departments.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical skills and the ability to solve complex mechanical challenges under tight timelines.

Preferred Experience

The following experience is preferred:

  • Aerospace or Drone Experience: Experience working on mechanical systems for UAVs, drones, or aerospace applications.
  • Materials & Fabrication: Knowledge of advanced materials and fabrication techniques, including additive manufacturing.
  • Project Management: Familiarity with managing large-scale engineering projects, including timelines, budgets, and resource allocation.
  • Certifications: FAA Part 107 or similar certifications are a plus.

Compensation: $90,000 - $120,000 / year
