POSITION OVERVIEW

Alliance Automation has an immediate opening for a Senior Mechanical Engineer at our rapidly growing business in Van Wert, Ohio. The primary mission of this role is to design custom machinery and robotics equipment for the automotive, consumer goods, and food packaging industries. Candidates should possess foundational knowledge in pneumatics, electrical systems, and hydraulics. Proficiency in SolidWorks is essential, as you will be responsible for translating initial customer concepts into detailed 3D designs. Success in this role requires a high level of creativity and the ability to exercise independent judgment to develop functional designs that align with customer requirements.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Concept, Design, Detail, and Release custom One-Off machinery.
  2. Performs work requiring a thorough knowledge of mechanical theory and principles, statutory codes, and equipment requirements.
  3. Design in accordance to OSHA, ANSI, and RIA standards related to safety and ergonomics.
  4. Analyze mechanical drawings supplied by customers
  5. Understands industrial and GD&T tolerances related to product design and assembly requirements
  6. Ability to size and design mechanical and electromechanical components such as; chains, sprockets, belts, linear guides, cylinders, motors, servo motors, gearbox, etc.
  7. Must be able to manage project timeline and project budget.
  8. Must be able to collaborate with other engineers and production personnel in team environments to ensure the success of each project.
  9. Must be able and willing to lead design teams and give direction to other engineers.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE

Qualifications/Skills:

  • Minimum of 5 years of 3D design in SolidWorks preferred
  • Strong project management aptitude
  • Bachelor s degree in related field of study or equivalent work experience
  • Able to conform to shifting priorities, demands, and timelines through analytical and
    problem-solving capabilities.
  • Valid state motor vehicle operator's license
  • Ability to interface with customer in a professional manner
  • Must be organized, and able to utilize Gant Charts, Spread Sheets, and Microsoft One Note
