We are currently searching for college students interested in gaining hands-on experience at a leading energy company. Our internships have a specific focus, but often get broader exposure to Cleco’s business, gaining insight into different areas of the company and into the energy industry. Work Hours

Most of our internships are full-time, 40 hours a week, starting at the end of spring semester and ending the beginning of fall semester.

We also offer the ability to continue on as a part-time, year-round intern that can be flexible to accommodate your class schedule.

All internships are paid and many of them can result in full-time jobs down the road, based on performance.

Work Location

Engineering internships are available across our service territory. This internship can be located at one of the following locations:

  • Pineville General Office in Pineville, LA
  • Pineville Service Center in Pineville, LA
  • Brame Energy Center in Lena, LA
  • New Iberia Service Center in New Iberia, LA
  • St. Tammany Service Center in Mandeville, LA
  • Slidell Service Center in Slidell, LA

Intern Job Responsibilities

Intern responsibilities can vary based on the specific role and ongoing projects but can include:

  • Conducting research and on emerging technologies and practices in the utility industry to support vision and purpose
  • Participating in training (OSHA/Energy Wheel/Cybersecurity/Plant Safety)
  • Regulatory compliance
  • Using engineering software for design, modeling, or analysis
  • Collaborating with engineers from transmission, distribution, and generation to understand ongoing projects and gain business insight
  • Analyzing data related to system performance, outage reports, or load forecasts
  • Writing reports, maintaining logs, and preparing presentations for stakeholders
  • Assisting in community outreach regarding clean energy projects or utility services

Qualifications

Required Education, Skills & Experience

  • Must be enrolled in a full-time bachelor’s degree or master’s degree program in Engineering from an ABET-accredited university.
  • Must be in 3rd or 4th year of college program or enrolled in an advanced degree program
  • Must have a minimum GPA of 2.75 or higher (on a 0.00-4.00 scale)
  • Preferred participation in at least one extracurricular activity
  • Must have reliable form of transportation
