Responsibilities:

  • Manage projects involving DC power systems, ensuring proper installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting. Ensure all projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
  • Oversee the planning, design, and construction of telecommunications rooms and related infrastructure, including floor foundations, roof fixes, generator refresh, and HVAC systems.


Required:

  • Bachelor s Degree or higher in Electrical Engineering or related field
  • Working knowledge of -48 Volt Direct Current (VDC) Power Systems as deployed to support Telecommunications Systems. Ability to perform simple power and runtime calculations. Familiarity with Lead-Acid Battery Systems, both flooded and Valve Regulated Lead Acid, and an understanding of the various codes that apply to their safety and deployment.
  • A basic understanding of how Substation DC Power Systems differ from Telecommunications DC Power Systems.
  • Basic understanding of Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) Systems, including Heat Load Calculations, and system sizing.
  • Working knowledge of the California Electrical Code (CEC) and the National Electrical Code (NEC). Familiarity with Electrical System drawings including Panel Schedules. An understanding of common panel, voltage, and transformer configurations. Working knowledge of code required safe clearances. An understanding of back-up power systems including propane fueled engine generators, and Photovoltaic systems.
  • Familiarity with the Americans with Disabilities Act and its provisions, especially regarding safe
  • access.
  • Skilled in the use of Microsoft Visio to document scaled floor plans, and to create system diagrams of Power systems. Good ability to visualize space in three dimensions avoiding conflicts in space planning.
  • Skilled in the use Microsoft Excel to analyze data.
  • Experience dealing with other disciplines including Corporate Real Estate, Corporate Security, Architects, Building Contractors, Electrical Contractors, and Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJ).
  • Writing skills, including the use of Microsoft Word, to produce clear reports and documentation.
  • May travel to the different substations and other locations in Los Angeles area
