Looking for a Senior DevSecOps Engineer!!

Client: Carfirst BSBC FEPOC
Location: Reston VA (Primarily Remote but will be required to go onsite on need basis, 2 to 3 times a month. This is not negotiable!

MANAGER NOTES - Please Focus on these notes below!

  • Minimum 10 years or more experience is required
  • Straight contract role... May have to come into Reston office for in-person collaboration meetings!! Candidate must be in the DMV AREA ONLY!!
  • Looking for very senior level Engineer to help with Cloud Native (Kubernetes, containerization, etc) piece of DevSecOps... Looking at containerizing many of the mid-tier apps (Java & Python apps)... AWS is the cloud exp that is needed. Needs to make sure containers are secure and connected well.
  • Goal: Build DevSecOps platform capability that integrates with AWS. Usual DevOps tech stack mentioned in JD, should be senior level resource who has touched many tech tools as it relates to DevOps.
  • Needs exp working well with cross functional teams.
  • Needs some Leadership exp. Be able to advise on things CF should implement and how to make things better.
  • Basically, needs to have previous exp going from X tool to cloud native tool, should have been part of the strategy and selection process and the decision making going forward to get everything up and running properly. That is essentially what CF needs in a nutshell.


The responsibilities include execution of full life cycle activities in support of multiple DevSecOps tools which will include but not limited to:
Work directly with architect, principal and lead engineer, and other team members on design and implement tasks.
Plan and build roadmaps for the EKS and AWS DevOps Implementation.
Build Applications with EKS and AWS best practices
Accountable for meeting milestones.
Conduct code review, unit and integration testing.
Document system design and unit testing information
Automation of manual steps

Required Skills:
Hands on with EKS and AWS
Hands on with Python, Shell scripting
Have hands on skills with Cloudbees, BitBucket, Sonar, Artifactory, CloudNative Practices. Wide breadth knowledge of development and testing best DevSecOps practices.
Outstanding knowledge in Continuous Integration (CI), Testing (CT), Security and deployment (CD) concepts. Working knowledge of JIRA and Confluence
Apply engineering principles to improve resiliency, performance, efficiency and scalability of the DevSecOps eco system
Find opportunities and build automation to reduce teams interdependency
Linux administration
Windows administration
Excellent documentation skills
Self-starter and quick learner
Be part of on call rotation

Day to Day Activities:
AWS and EKS operations
Build the Aggreed upon App that leverages EKS, Cloudnative concepts and implement in production.
Retrospect on the current implementation and document for future use.
Cloud Native tools
Administer AWS console where Cloudbees Agent exists on the EC2 instance.
