Position Overview:

We are seeking a skilled Metrologist to join our team on a contract-to-hire basis. The successful candidate will be responsible for repairing and calibrating measuring and test equipment and standards. This role requires maintaining accurate records of instrument calibration and work performed, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and implementing best practices in metrology. The Metrologist will play a key role in supporting our customer s metrology program, contributing to both safety and quality in our operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Calibration and Repair:

    • Repair and calibrate a wide range of measuring and test equipment and standards.
    • Maintain accurate and detailed records of instrument calibration, repairs, and associated work performed.
  • Program Implementation and Maintenance:

    • Maintain and implement the measuring and test equipment program.
    • Provide feedback to ensure the metrology program remains effective, efficient, and compliant with regulatory requirements.
  • Troubleshooting and Improvement:

    • Develop and implement troubleshooting plans to enhance the effectiveness of the metrology program.
    • Conduct regular assessments of equipment and processes to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Safety and Compliance:

    • Strictly adhere to established procedures and safety protocols.
    • Attend selected metrology training sessions to stay updated on industry standards and practices.
    • Comply with ALARA (As Low As Reasonably Achievable) principles and radiation protection policies.

Qualifications:

  • Education:

    • Associate's degree in the physical sciences or equivalent experience in metrology, such as PMEL (Precision Measurement Equipment Laboratory) training.
  • Experience:

    • A minimum of five years of hands-on experience in measurement and calibration work, preferably in an industrial or energy-related setting.
  • Shift Requirements:

    • Must be willing to work shifts as assigned.

Required Skills:

  • Technical Proficiency:

    • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in spreadsheets, word processing, and database management software.
    • Knowledge of various testing methodologies and techniques relevant to metrology.
  • Theoretical Knowledge:

    • Understanding of basic electronic and mechanical theory, as well as familiarity with Fluke METCAL software.
    • Knowledge of industry standards and publications, including IEEE 498, ANSI N45.2, and 10CFR50 Appendix.
  • Physical Requirements:

    • Ability to lift and carry precision tools and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
