Position SummaryServes as the computer and systems manager for the Department of Physics. Responsible for the technical design, planning, implementation, performance tuning, and recovery procedures for research storage, servers and clusters.

Job Description

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provide server support and management for department and faculty research groups. Design, install, configure, trouble-shoot and provide maintenance of system hardware, software, and components. Ensure systems conform with IT security requirements. Interact with faculty to develop requirements for new/replacement systems. Develop technical solutions that are thorough and consistent with the department of physics' objectives in response to a wide range of technical issues. .
  • Provide technical assistance. Answer questions or resolve computer problems for faculty and staff in person, via telephone or from a remote location. Provide assistance concerning the use of computer hardware and software, including printing, installation, word processing, electronic mail, and operating systems. Install and perform repairs to hardware/software and peripheral equipment.
  • Acts as an interface between department users and WashU IT and A&S computing. Responds to campus security notifications. Keep abreast of current trends in server and network development.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Salary Range$65,900.00 - $112,700.00 / Annually
