BUILDING SYSTEMS ENGINEERING (BSE) DESIGNER I - MECHANICAL

As a member of the BSE Team, the Designer I work directly with experienced engineers to produce drawings from sketches, existing drawings, and electronic images. In this role, you assist seasoned engineers in designing building systems for projects across our practice areas, elevating their capabilities and creating a more sustainable world in the process. You understand basic drawing setup, modeling techniques, and general knowledge of drafting standards. The Engineering Designer I work under close supervision on projects of small size, and/or basic to moderate complexity.

WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE

  • An ability to perform moderately difficult technical computations and consolidate acquired data
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD, Revit and other relevant programs and you re proficient in utilizing Microsoft Office tools
  • Ability to comprehend and carry out oral or written instructions
  • An understanding of construction plans/specifications and their application to public works projects is a major plus
  • An AS Degree required; bachelor's degree preferred

CORE DUTIES

  • Collects data and gathers information or documents
  • Assist in setting up Revit and AutoCAD projects based on existing project templates
  • CAD and Revit drafting
  • Assist in ensuring model meets expectations, standards
  • Document changes based on written and verbal descriptions from design engineers
  • Prepare plan sections, detail drawings
  • Assist with file management functions such as posting models, downloading model updates, managing links, and historic versioning
  • Attend coordination meetings, communicate with other trades, and create reports as required
  • Create detailed field installation drawings and fabrication drawings
  • Provide technical support for existing projects and field service

The rate for this position ranges between $xx- xx annually. This range is a good faith estimate provided pursuant to the New York Pay Transparency Law. It is based on what a successful New York applicant might be paid and assumes that the successful candidate will be in New York or perform the position from New York. Similar positions located outside of New York will not necessarily receive the same compensation. Actual pay rates may vary from the range, as permitted by New York Equal Pay Transparency Law.
