Join Our Team as a Power Systems Studies Intern!

Are you passionate about power systems studies? S&C Electric Company is seeking a dynamic individual to coordinate our Consulting and Analytics function. As a Power Systems Studies Intern, you'll be crucial in ensuring smooth operations and supporting our diverse team.

S&C is a global provider of equipment and services for electric power systems. Founded in 1911, the Chicago-based company designs and manufactures switching, protection, and power quality products for low, medium, and high-voltage power systems.

The Power Systems Studies Summer Intern works under the direction of an engineer while learning about and executing electrical designs or analysis for power system projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct analytical studies and make analysis, interpretations, and conclusions under guidance and supervision.
  • Perform analytical studies, which includes modeling of electrical power systems.
  • Researching information related to the analysis being performed.
  • Utilizing computer software such as CYME, SKM, PSCAD, ETAP, ATP, EMTP-RV, PSS/E, PSLF to perform analytical studies.
  • Presenting findings and reports to both internal and external customers with results, conclusions, and recommendations.
  • Working alongside our customers to obtain clear and bounded scope of work.
  • Develop an understanding of the technical and commercial issues applicable to integration of renewable energy and smart grid technologies into electrical power systems.
  • Prepare reports and presentations for customers in a manner which enhances S&C's engineering reputation.


What you'll Need To Succeed:

Job Requirements ( To select this job at a minimum you must have the following):
  • Must be in good standing as a student at the Master's or Ph. D degree level at an accredited university majoring in an Electrical Engineering program and returning to school full-time at the end of the internship.
  • Comfortable working in a remote setting.
  • Ability to work Full-Time in Summer 2025 for a minimum of 10 weeks.
  • Knowledge of Electrical Engineering fundamentals and theory with an emphasis on power engineering.
  • Good computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word. Knowledge of and analytical software is a plus.
  • The ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced, constantly changing environment.

  • Prior power systems studies internship experience a plus
  • Publications and reports related to Power Systems a plus
