The primary purpose of the Director, Global Sourcing role is to provide collaborative leadership and strategic direction for Lowe's private brand Country-of-Origin diversification strategy, develop and manage sourcing solutions and related sourcing activities for private brand products being manufactured and sourced in the US, Canada, Europe, Mexico and South America, and lead sourcing operations for all global sourcing offices and ensure connectivity to key cross functional partners. This includes the responsibility for championing an inclusive and collaborative effort across all sourcing offices and product development teams to deliver a balanced portfolio of sourced country manufacturing locations for our private branded products in alignment with our goals. This role is also responsible for actively sourcing, engaging, and empowering a broad network of product and service suppliers, fostering economic inclusion, and innovation that will create a more inclusive and resilient supply chain that supports Lowe's business needs. This role is critical to Lowe's as it provides linkage from Lowe's Merchandising and Service teams and the US market to foreign staff and global suppliers.

What You Will Do

  • Sets strategic direction and leadership for sourcing opportunities, solutions, organizational structure, foreign offices, and supplier relationships to fully exploit and leverage Lowe’s assets and competitive advantage for private branded products manufactured and sourced in the US, Canada, Europe, Mexico and South America to meet private brand retail sales, margin, and other financial goals.
  • Provides collaborative leadership and strategic direction for Lowe’s private brand Country-of-Origin diversification strategy
  • Establishes business performance metrics and reporting criteria and report outs for internal stakeholders
  • Creates & owns annual expense forecast and all associated expenses to be in-line with forecast
  • Champions an inclusive and collaborative working effort across all sourcing offices, product development, merchandising, and service teams to deliver a balanced portfolio of product and service suppliers and sourced country manufacturing locations for our private branded products in alignment with our goals
  • Educates and informs the US merchants of the benefits of buying products from the in-scope developmental countries in collaboration with sourcing office leaders and product development leaders
  • Works collaboratively and aligns internal and external business activities across internal stakeholders such as Merchandising, Enterprise Strategic Sourcing, Pro, CD&I, Legal, Public Relations, Communications, Marketing, etc.
  • Serves as a liaison between the foreign staff, suppliers and US offices.
  • Leads global team that actively sources, engages, and educates a broad network of product and service suppliers through various channels such as tradeshows, Into the Blue product and service pitch and private brand factory sourcing events, trade councils & organizations, etc. in alignment with Lowe’s business strategies
  • Provides business leadership of sourcing events such as Into the Blue as a key pipeline to source & vet potential product and service vendors, factories, innovation, and private brand vendor forums to enhance relationships and provide critical connectivity to our suppliers
  • Promotes vendor and service provider understanding of Lowe’s Companies, Inc. ethical and legal standards in compliance with U.S. Customs and international laws
  • Leads team that educates potential suppliers on general retail readiness and Lowe’s specific business requirements and supports ongoing supplier development once business is awarded
  • Ensures support of all the combined operational functions needed to source, project-manage, provide high quality private brand product from responsibly sourced factories and deliver on-time shipments
  • Secures operational support for non-private brand products where Lowe’s / L G Sourcing is the importer of record to deliver on-time shipments
  • Creates an inclusive and resilient supply chain that supports our business needs while giving all businesses a chance to grow and prosper to their full potential with Lowe’s
  • Leads the development of strategies, systems, tools, and processes that will aid in the achievement of private brand and supplier inclusion business strategies and goals in conjunction with cross-functional business areas
  • Provides a collaborative, inclusive and engaging organizational environment and manages relationships and activities directly and through the US and foreign management staff; provides the linkage from Lowe’s Merchandising / the US market to the foreign staff and global suppliers
  • This position manages/supervises people

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree Business, International Business, Finance, Supply Chain, or related field
  • 10 Years experience in international / global merchandising, global sourcing, brand development, product development, and/or related fields
  • 8 years experience in global strategy development and implementation
  • 5 years experience leading teams

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree Business, International Business, Finance, Supply Chain, or related field
  • 10 years experience driving results within a retail or merchandising organization
  • 6 years experience in international hard goods sourcing.
