Department Overview

Operations Support is dedicated to creating cross-commodity consistency and standards in Operations. The team provides support services guided by best practices and a relentless pursuit for improvement. It has single points of accountability for Work Management & Resource Planning, Execution Support, Business Operations & Process Improvement, PG&E Academy, and Enterprise Public Works. Operations Support is comprised of approximately 1,000 coworkers

Position Summary

Coordinates and assembles work and resource plans that align with the budget plan. Monitors weekly and annual execution of the work plan by the Transmission execution organizations. Understands the effectiveness of, and recommend improvements in business process, practice, and procedures as they relate to the identification of known work and work management data quality in the various work management systems. May work closely with the GO Business Finance team to monitor and reallocate budget between programs and maintain and overall view of budget performance.

This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and your assigned work location based on business need. The a ssigned work location will be within the PG&E Service Territory.

PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.

A reasonable salary range is:

Minimum Base Salary (Bay Area) $98,000.00

Maximum Base Salary (Bay Area) $146,000.00

Job Responsibilities

May be responsible for any or all the following:
  • Develops new and innovative work & resource planning solutions, tools, and processes
  • Works with peers and stakeholders in assigned work streams to develop a prioritized and optimized annual work plan portfolio, supported by a strategic, balanced annual resource plan.
  • Tracks and reports on work progression. Derives key messages from work progression reporting and communicates necessary actions to stakeholders.
  • Supports the development of contingency plans to assure work readiness if work and financial plans require adjustment and recommends adjustments as necessary.
  • Identifies issues such as actual cost or resource data outside of plan. Investigates to determine cause of variance, reaches out to stakeholders, and makes recommendations actions to correct.
  • Participates in cross functional stakeholder project teams and meetings.
  • Partners with peers and stakeholders to develop integrated work plans, project plan updates and presentation materials for regular work and budget meetings.
  • Participates on special initiatives project teams as work planning subject matter expert
  • Participate in the Work Allocation process for Gas Transmission Projects to internal and external execution resources both during portfolio planning and ad-hoc for emergent work
  • Review project details with Transmission Project Managers
  • Provide ongoing support for GT construction Managers
  • Identify project bundles utilizing work scopes and GIS tools to realize engineering and construction savings
  • Create and Maintain the weekly update of the work allocation tool and the engineering and estimating resource tools
  • Maintain the Gas Transmission work allocation and alliance partner dashboards in Power BI
  • Identify projects to go to RFP and work with Sourcing team to set up event schedules
  • Participate in GPOM Resource Planning and process improvements for planning their work


Qualifications

Minimum:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, economics, business administration or comparable quantitative field or equivalent related work experience.
  • 5 years of relevant work experience with steady progression of responsibilities.


Desired:
  • Utility industry experience, or related
  • Understanding of the utility or energy industry drivers, issues and trends.
  • Understanding of the Gas Transmission System and Gas Transmission Maintenance and Construction Work
  • Understanding of the Gas Transmission Planning & Execution process
  • Construction Management or Field Engineer Experience
  • Knowledge of long-term strategic resource/operational planning theories, concepts, practices, methods and techniques.
  • Experience with data analysis, benchmarking, monitoring and business/financial analysis skills including knowledge of varied analytical methods.
  • Problem solving and decision-making skills to develop comprehensive solutions.
  • Understanding of business and work planning processes. (e.g., Units, Maintenance Activity Type (MAT) Codes, Provider Cost Center (PCC) Codes, dates, activities, systems, etc.).
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office, Project, Visio, Visual Basic Applications (VBA) or similar software.
  • Skills in Power BI and GTGIS
