The User Experience/User Interface (UX/UI) Design Manager helps define and oversee the UX/UI design of NCBE products. This role focuses on ensuring that all products and services are accessible, user-friendly, and aligned with the needs of the organization s diverse user base. The UX/UI Design Manager works collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including Product and Assessment Development and IT, to integrate user-centered design principles into every stage of product development.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Design Process: Leads the end-to-end design process for NCBE products and the systems that support them, from discovery through delivery.
  • Accessibility: Champions accessibility in all product designs, ensuring compliance with relevant standards and that all users, regardless of ability, can effectively use NCBE's products and services.
  • User Research: Collaborates with user researchers to turn participant insights into actionable design recommendations.
  • Design Leadership: Guides junior designers on creating intuitive, accessible, engaging, and effective user interfaces.
  • Collaboration: Partners with product, developers, and other stakeholders to integrate UX design into the product development lifecycle from conception to launch.
  • Design Deliverables: Responsible for creating user flows, wireframes, prototypes and high-fidelity designs that adhere to design best practices and NCBE s strategic goals.
  • Development: Establishes best practices and collaborates with development teams to ensure that designs are implemented accurately and effectively.
  • Innovation: Stays current with industry trends and best practices in UX/UI Design and accessibility, applying this knowledge to innovate and improve NCBE's products and services.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Advocate for a user-centered design approach within the organization, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.
  • Cross-Functional Advocacy: Serves as a UX advocate within the organization, promoting a user-centered mindset across all departments and internal systems.

Qualifications:

  • Strong portfolio showcasing an expertise in product design.
  • Deep understanding of accessibility standards (e.g., WCAG) and experience implementing accessible designs.
  • 5+ years of experience in UX/UI design, with at least 1 year in leadership or management role.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across departments.
  • Passion for creating user-centered designs that meet the needs of diverse user groups.
  • Proficiency in Figma (required) and an understanding of front-end technologies (e.g., HTML, CSS, JavaScript).
  • Experience with Agile or Lean UX methodologies, and the ability to integrate design practices into fast-paced development environments.
  • A bachelor s or master s degree in human-computer interaction, UX/UI design, or a related field is preferred, but equivalent experience will be considered.

The User Experience/User Interface (UX/UI) Design Manager may work remotely. NCBE will consider applicants from the following states: FL, IA, IL, IN, MA, MD, ME, MI, MO, MN, NC, NE, NJ, NM, NV, OK, PA, TX, WA, WI, and WY.
