About the role

This role will be part of the Battery Systems Team at magniX responsible for the development and integration of battery and energy systems within magniX projects. You will be responsible for formulating the process to integrate battery cells to a certifiable product, for current and future applications, specifying cell requirements, establishing their relationship with the system, and overseeing implementation at early design stage. You will also be participating in different exciting projects within magniX including our hybrid-electric demonstrator for the NASA EPFD program.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Define and lead magniX s battery cell technology development with cell supplier partners & integration roadmap, key requirements and course of action to meet customer needs.
  • Stay abreast of the state of the art in battery industry, identifying emerging battery technology scientific and/or market-driven trends (maturity, capabilities & limitations), ranging from cell to system level.
  • Define battery cell level requirements.
  • Establish the relationship between battery cell level performance, reliability & safety, and key interfacing design parameters (compression and temperature range, charge and discharge rates, abuse tolerance, others), through analytical, model-based, and experimental assessment.
  • Advance promising ideas to proof-of-concept state through prototyping and testing at R&D cell, sub-system, and system level scale.
  • Support the development of battery related cross-functional capabilities within magniX (packaging, simulation, thermal, materials, manufacturing, testing, others).
  • Author company policies and design guidelines to inform current & future designs.
  • Contribute to the expansion of the magniX energy system team, identifying required skills and participating in interviews.

Qualifications

  • Master s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical Engineering or Science (Ph.D. is preferred)
  • 4+ years of research experience in battery technology.
  • Experience with battery performance analysis and predictive modeling using battery material behavior.
  • Experience with model development for cell and battery pack.
  • Experience with bringing a concept to design, prototype and product.
  • Highly skilled in collaboration and coordination across diverse engineering teams.
  • Proficient in Python, MATLAB and Simulink
  • Fast-paced learner of new technology and design solutions

This position's approximate base salary range is $138,000 $165,000 depending on years of experience and level of education.
