Description
The RF Process Engineer will be supporting the manufacturing team in two key production areas for Thin Film manufacturing. The RF Process Engineer will support SMT Reflow Assembly (for assembling stainless steel covers to ceramic filters) and Vector Analyzer Electrical Testing (where passive components, like filters, power dividers, and couplers, operating from 3-60 GHz are tested for customer compliance).


Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with leading the execution of quality and process improvement projects and activities in component assembly and electrical (RF and microwave frequency) testing.
  • Manage the process design review, product and process qualification, and capability studies for Assembly and RF Testing departments.
  • Conduct internal compliance audits of production tests, process specifications, and other in-plant processes. Interface with Maintenance and Production to ascertain and identify operating and maintenance problems.
  • Provide production line support focusing on the machines, materials, and production employees. Provide support to maintenance, and environmental engineering.
  • Provide production support for component assembly and some small system assemblies.
  • Participate on problem solving teams and project teams as a technical resource geared towards improving the performance of existing processes and raw material handling systems. Conduct engineering analysis (FMEA) and follow through with project recommendations.
  • Coordinate between contractors and the company to accomplish engineering projects. Prepare capital expenditure requests as necessary.
  • Maintain thorough engineering standards for project execution, design, equipment standards, safety, and cost control.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Skills Knowledge and Expertise
  • Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering
  • A minimum of 5 years of demonstrated related experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt preferred
  • Ability to read and interpret specifications and drawings
  • Proficiency using root cause analysis to troubleshoot and solve problems
  • Ability to translate technical data into a format/language suitable for personnel
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Understanding of SMT and wirebond component assembly process
  • Basic to intermediate understanding of Vector Analyzer operation and test capability- frequency ranges of 3-60 GHz
  • Understating of wafer probe testing techniques.
  • Intermediate knowledge of manufacturing analysis tools, such as statistical analysis/statistical process control (SPC), process capability studies, lean manufacturing, 5S, Six Sigma, and/or Design of Experiments (DOE)
  • Familiar with standard Manufacturing concepts, practices & procedures
  • Familiar with modeling software (HFSS, Sonnet, etc.)
  • Ability to self-manage workload and present status using Project Management software and tools
