  1. Make sure the webpage is open.

  5. On the left, click Content Blockers.
  6. Make sure Off is chosen in the pop-up menu next to the website.
  7. On the left, click Pop-up Windows.
  8. Make sure Allow is chosen in the pop-up menu next to the website.

Position Summary

The SQL Developer assists in the design, development, documentation and maintenance of Karmak's database environment to ensure that the performance, quality and reliability surpass the expectations of our customers.


Essential Functions

  • Ensure that best practices for database design and development activities are followed
  • Design and implement database systems based on requirements while focusing on reliability, stability and performance
  • Develop and troubleshoot complex stored procedures, scripts and functions supporting application development
  • Performance tune queries and provide expertise on set-based operations
  • Develop and implement data movement strategies between environments
  • Work closely with DevOps to prepare deployment and rollback scripts across development and production environments
  • Administer source control and build process of databases within the Karmak SDLC
  • Create and manage schema and other technical artifacts relating to the database environments
  • Troubleshoot and resolve bugs issues (data or DB code) and performance issues
  • Assist Product Owners and Quality Assurance in development and testing efforts
  • Be responsible for or be a contributor to documentation artifacts including functional requirements documents, design documents, and data management plans

Essential Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Working knowledge of SQL Server 2012 - 2019, Azure SQL Database, TSQL, Visual Studio and VSTS
  • Knowledge of database tuning and troubleshooting
  • Knowledge of basic Project Management principles
  • Ability to design, develop and create database objects on Microsoft SQL Server platform. i.e. Tables, Indexes, Keys, Stored Procedures, Views, Functions, Triggers, etc.
  • Ability to monitor Database performance including execution time and experience implementing efficiency improvements.
  • Use of tools to diagnose database performance issues, create reporting index strategies and improve database designs based on SQL execution
  • Bachelor's Degree in related field or equivalent experience
  • Cooperative attitude and team-oriented
  • Must possess focused multi-tasking abilities and be detail-oriented
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving and organizational skills
  • 5+ years' experience in the design and building of data models
  • 5+ years' experience in relational database design and tuning.
  • This is a position that operates with minimal supervision, technical expertise in software development or other Information Technology areas a plus.
