The Position

Agriculturists perform a variety of inspections and enforcement duties related to regulated agricultural programs such as seed testing and seed certification, commercial pest control licensing, commercial nursery inspection and licensing, vertebrate pest control, noxious weeds, insect and plant disease quarantine surveys, and commercial feed and agricultural product grading.

Under direct supervision, participate in weed survey's and report infestations of noxious weeds; assist in noxious weed identification developing control programs; provide notifications to landowners on effective methods of control; record survey data and recommend control procedures in order to comply with the provisions of the Nevada Revised Statutes; perform inspections at agricultural, gravel pit and compost sites identifying noxious and prohibited weeds for weed free certification; assist with biological control agent site selection, releases, and monitoring; provide outreach to the public and professionals during workshops, seminars and trainings. To Qualify

In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:

Qualifications

Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications) Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in agricultural science or related field; OR an equivalent combination of education and professional experience which provided experience in regulatory agricultural programs such as seed certification, pest control licensing, or enforcement of regulations related to agriculture and horticulture; OR graduation from high school or equivalent and two years of technical inspection and enforcement experience related to agricultural programs. Special Requirements A valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continued employment. The Examination Application Evaluation Exam The exam will consist of an application evaluation. It is essential that applications include detailed information with time frames regarding education and experience. The most qualified applicants will be contacted by the hiring agency for interview.
