Senior Application Performance Management Engineer We are currently seeking a Senior Application Performance Management Engineer to join our team. This position is responsible for defining, developing, and improving solutions for Insperity's Application Performance Management team and associated technology and platforms. Designs and defines enterprise best practices and standards related to software and system reliability and performance. Works with management and stakeholders to ensure performance, scalability, and reliability goals are met. Advises delivery teams on solutions. Strong technical expertise and deep understanding of Application Performance Management to enable creative and effective solutions. Partners with relevant stakeholders to define, implement, and monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), Key Risk Indicators (KRIs) and other metrics as appropriate. Works with the Application Performance Management team to implement these solutions and bring transparency to stakeholders. Serves as a mentor, trainer, and inspiration to other team members and partners with teams within the technology department. Leads efforts to find, evaluate, and explore emerging and upcoming technologies to keep the team abreast of new trends and on the leading edge of developing practices, tools, and state of the art. Responsibilities Contributes to the strategy and vision with Product Owners and stakeholders to devise Service Level Objectives (SLO) and capture Service Level Indicators (SLI). Identifies and proposes solutions to gaps in defined Service Level Agreements (SLA) and compliance monitoring for those SLAs. Works with delivery teams to define system capacity plans, gathers data and statistics to review efficacy of the plans, creates metrics and visualizations to facilitate continuous improvement necessary to reach business goals and objectives for system capacity. Defines enterprise standards and best practices around designing for performance, supportability, and reliability, and scalability. Works with other technical teams to identify areas for improvement of standards and best practices in Application Performance Management in the software design and development life cycle. Works with delivery teams to apply Application Performance Management considerations to business and technical product design decisions. Builds, designs, and implements tools for use by software application support teams to alert and diagnose operational issues and deviations. Takes initiative with operational support teams to assess gaps in coverage and that support teams are properly equipped to stay ahead of potential system issues. Takes initiative with other teams to understand production environment behaviors. Evaluates operational data to determine when or if action may be required to optimize company operations. Assesses and evaluates operational patterns and trends for the purpose of providing feedback to Solution Designers, Server Administrators, and other relevant staff to optimize and improve overall system health, performance, and reliability. Designs, develops, and implements solutions to monitor software health, stability, and performance. Works with Quality Assurance and other validation-focused teams to devise, design, and develop failure mode tests, load/stress tests, and other adverse operating-condition defined scenarios to ensure that applications can tolerate a wide range of conditions safely and successfully. Recommends continuous improvement to close gaps in software development practices and projects for best practices in Application Performance Management and adherence to company standards and guidelines. Assists in the accomplishment of Insperity Company goals. Helps other employees to accomplish Insperity Company goals. Performs other duties as may be assigned by department supervisor. Participates in the Disaster Recovery plan as required. Qualifications High School Diploma or equivalent is required. Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or equivalent work experience in enterprise software development, is required. Minimum of five (5) years' experience in information systems is required with at least three (3) years' experience developing, architecting, managing, or maintaining enterprise grade software systems, systems administration, or similar discipline. Strong working knowledge of architectural concepts and the fundamentals of good enterprise technology architecture and design. Experience with software monitoring and alerting tools. Strong leadership, teamwork, and collaboration skills. Strong consensus building skills and the ability to find common ground or mutual agreement across complex topics involving compromise, negotiation, and similar tactics. Ability to express complex, technical topics to management, peers, and others who may not possess an APM background. Ability to express deep or technical topics in easy-to-understand terms. Strong customer service skills. Exhibits a passion for learning and continuous improvement. Takes responsibility for acquiring new skills and broadening knowledge. Exhibits a commitment to the utilization of defined standards and processes. Strong verbal and written communication skills, with an ability to express complex technical concepts in business terms and maintain effective work relations with those encountered in the course of employment. Proactive at identifying and recommending areas for improvement and increased reliability. Ability to create technical documentation and a desire to share that knowledge amongst team members. Actual compensation is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, and specific office location.
