Job Summary:
The Product Owner is a key liaison between the market needs and business delivery of a solution. In this role the Product Owner will work with the product and engineering team to ensure the prioritized backlog is efficiently delivered through building a shared understanding with user experience and engineering, and motivating, managing and communicating across the business and within the team.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Independently manage and prioritize the product backlog, ensuring that the team always works on the most impactful projects
- Create detailed stories, clarify stories as necessary to support the development teams
- Lead the planning of product release plans and set expectations for delivery of new functionalities
- Confirm that executed stories comply with Avenu s Definition of Done
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, marketing, sales, and customer support, to ensure successful product releases
- Engage with customers and stakeholders to gather and validate requirements and feedback
- Work closely with senior leadership to inform product strategy and provide updates on product progress and milestones
- Analyze market trends and competitive landscape to inform product decisions and strategy
- Ensure product aligns with user needs, business goals, and technical capabilities
- Facilitate agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives
- Monitor and report on product performance, quality, and usage metrics
- Perform other duties as assigned
Education and Experience:
- 2+ years' experience working in Agile methodology and a deep understanding of various phases of the Software Development Life Cycle; preferably in Product Owner or Business Analyst role.
- Public sector or public sector software experience desired, tax administration, short term rental or revenue management solutions a plus.
- Experience using tools like JIRA, Azure DevOps, and Figma and utilization tools like Segment, Dovetail, and Amplitude.
- Understanding and experience with technical solutions and components (APIs, Middleware, Services, SQL
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with both technology/development and business partners ability to translate between these two constituencies
- Excellent written communication skills and have excellent communication skills and client presence
- Ability to create user journeys, user stories, wireframes, mockups, and basic diagrams to convey ideas
- Able to juggle multiple competing priorities
- Ability to persuade, encourage and motivate others to beat deadlines
Work Environment:
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate as the employee works in an office setting, at an individual work station, using telephone and computer
Physical Demands:
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position for most of the day
- Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a printer/copy machine
- This position needs to occasionally move about inside the office
- The person in this position frequently communicates via telephone
