We are looking for an Engineering Supervisor

Reporting to the Engineering Manager, supervises, schedules, oversees, reviews, delegates and approves work performed by the manufacturing engineering team, completing work on time. Maintains and optimizes all plant manufacturing processes. Releases, maintains, and updates all product and process documentation for AMTB Detroit. Reports plant performance data (KPIs), identifies and implements continuous improvement projects, and identifies and implements machine and process improvements.

Management Responsibilities:

  • Leads and mentors technical and manufacturing associates through the timely execution of work projects
  • Schedules, delegates, reviews and approves work of team of manufacturing engineers
  • Defines objectives, identifies and evaluates projects, work plans and timelines
  • Performs and communicates regular performance to staff
  • ensures a safe, secure, and legal work environment

Technical Responsibilities:

  • Helps identify continuous improvement projects, via KPI data, develops work-plans, and closes projects in a timely fashion
  • Generates and maintains standard work instructions for all manufacturing processes
  • Maintains departmental open issues and ensures on time completion
  • Responsible for all product and process drawings, ECN and APQP process
  • Generates and supports Process Flow, PPAP, Control Plans, PFEMA for all manufacturing processes
  • Creates and maintains all technical documentation including machine, part, and tooling designs and 3D models
  • Contributes to and supports WCM (World Class Management) Systems
  • Supports new equipment and product launch activities
  • Supports the production floor via troubleshooting and resolution of manufacturing issues
  • Manages and implements safe and ergonomic manufacturing processes
  • Collaborates with AMTB departments, suppliers, and customers to achieve on time results.
  • Escalates issues to the Engineering Manager as appropriate
  • Other duties assigned by the Engineering Manager

Skills, Requirements, and Personal Traits:

  • Education: Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering Master s Degree preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years of proven experience in a leadership capacity within the automotive industry, specifically in Tier 1 or Tier 2 organizations
  • Proven experience leading and directing technical teams
  • Knowledge of WCM, Lean Manufacturing and/or Kaizen principles and applications
  • Experience with Automotive standard APQP practices, certification requirements, PPAP, Process Flow, PFMEA
  • Understanding and practical experience with steel blanking parts, laser welding
  • Experience with factory automation, Robotics, Part Handling and conveyance, automated inspection and welding
  • Fulfill the Health, Safety & Environmental responsibilities identified in the HSE Management Standards and OHSAS 18001 & ISO 14001 Management Systems.
  • Fulfill the Quality Management System responsibilities identified in IATF 16949 and AMTB Process Map
  • Proficient in MS Office products (advanced Excel and PowerPoint)
  • Excellent knowledge and experience with engineering design (CAD, blueprint reading), general knowledge of machining and fabrication, statistical process control, problem identification and resolution, knowledge of the APQP process, and project management.
  • Strong Analytical skills
